What land could it be

In fact it's a title of a song. 22000+1 singers sung it yesterday.
http://youtu.be/NmmUOpLQnLs
And the occasion was: http://news.err.ee/culture/83779d76-8d38-426b-bb81-612728941005
I am not really into choir music but this one made me literally.
The song was written for a theatre play about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahtra_War and sung there by a French governess who just couldn't understand the land.
Too bad the lyrics are so good that I can't translate those. But in general the land has left all her children without mother and people are slaves and it's all full of bogs and forests, yet the people have some mysterious power and strange songs.
Anyway, a dark and sad song. And beautiful

.. ok ok ok .. how about this as a first attempt?
What land is this? There's no mountain,
Only the endless forests and bog marshes.
But the people here are full of magic power
And the strange stories of their songs.
What land is this? Once night eats away the days,
Once a day is so long that absorbs the night.
Alike, both here in bypass-
If a stranger is resting, local is working
naaahhh.. not mine .. I would never think of that last line

.. I definitely am impressed with the line
"If a stranger is resting, local is working "
the stranger would typically be me of course

Hm, I'm guessing pirates are not so strange to estonians as hippos are. There is a whole pirate castle on the northern coast
BTW I just uploaded the link to Facebook without comments. Should be interesting to see the comments it gets - if any
