Be wary of explanations. We shall see what becomes of them.

Indeed. Explanations seem to have become an endangered species

but, we may already be more inexplicable.... just we can't remember, or recall the lesser inexplicable thing that was the thing before this thing which is as unexplicible as this thing is. Which all seems a little inexplicable, nad perhaps even circularly so... was the thing before this explicable thing, less inexplicable, and then in turn, more inexplicable than the thing before that inexplicable thing, back and back.... that must ultimately mean there is a really explainable thing, right back at the beginning, and, to be honest, I'm not sure any of us is in a position to explain that, even from this position of inexplicability, which, following the argument in the opposite direction, is possibly only mildly inexplicable in comparison to the inexplicable thing which is to next be the inexplicable thing that is... is what.... I've not a clue, fraid I just can't explain it Sure is a lot left to explain for those who like explaining things... - well I guess everyone needs a hobby...

Hence the repeated extensions of our lifespans, as we can't stop until we've explained the unexplainable.

We should be getting close to h2g2's 19th birthday and we should be preparing for next year's 20th.
