@tartaronne: it was more than okay, more than i had hoped for
@paul: experts warn us against eating too much smoked food, but i'm in no danger, i believe

There are countries where people have been eating smoked food regularly for hundreds of years. There are usually a few people un these countries who live very long lives, and some others who die young. I don't think anyone knows why people react to these foods so differently.

i have a theory: in greenland people live on fish and seals and hardly any vegetables. and the seals contain quite a lot of animal fat (as in cholesterol). raw seal liver is a delicacy to them, even if it is packed with cholesterol
my theory is: people whose bodies could not stand the cholesterol died - many moons ago. simple as that. the rest of them survived
i have absolutely nothing to back up this theory - but it is a theory, no?

I think you are probably onto something. Keep working on your theory.

on the other hand: if they eat enough the healthy fat in the may even out the cholesterol from the seals

That's probably true, too. The French eat too much fat, but the resveratrol in their wine nullifies the bad effects. There are lots of checks and balances in the nutrition game.

Dear Pierce the
Thank you for sharing your lovely summer holiday and the photos with us. I really enjoyed hearing all your news and the happy time you havw had with all the h2g2 crowd.
Really wish I could do it again, but no luck. !! No-one really wishes to have a weepy wheelchiar body around. !! And I really do not blame them.
Ah me!! It really is rather difficult getting old and and de facto duffucylt to fit into current life.
With much affecttion,
