Gnomon - time to move on

I've found a way for people to log in to h2g2 - many people have been locked out for over a week.

The techs have made a change to the login page. You can now put your user ID number in where it asks for your log in name and it will allow you to log in.

The techs seem to have made a change a few days ago, because I notice that the error message changed, but they didn't tell anybody that we can now log in - perhaps they didn't realise it.

I love your comment in post 2 - perhaps they didn't realise they'd fixed it smiley - biggrin

Maybe they'd better stop now before they unfix it.

Is the password still necessary? If so, I would think it not so 'risky'

Just asking

Yes, the password is still necessary, so it is not a security risk.

Query: reguarding password changes - now or after the Vogons have been despatched? If now, even new PW's might be as readily visible

Technical staff should guide you in these things, ideally.

All I'll say is that I'm sure you regularly change your password, and now might be a good time to do it again.

Nope. In the unlikely occasion that someone gained access to my h2g2 account, I just don't foresee any serious risk. I don't share my password between sites so they wouldn't gain anything other than the ability to post here on my behalf.

Not exactly worried about that.

Indeed, who could possibly post anything under my name that could be deemed offensive? smiley - winkeye

I'm going to be cautious, attempting pw change first on a second account I use mainly for test purposes.
