Gnomon - time to move on

The next three weeks have holidays in them here in Ireland.

Sunday is Patrick's Day, so Monday is a public holiday.

The following week, Friday is Good Friday. While this is not officially a public holiday, it is effectively one, as most businesses close (including mine).

The week after that, we have Easter Monday, which is a public holiday.

So not only do we have three 4-day weeks, but we also have the Easter weekend, the second longest holiday of the year, in which just about everybody gets 4 days in a row off work.

Normally we spend either Patrick's weekend or Easter weekend in our mobile home in Wexford, but this year it has been so cold that I'm not sure that we'll venture out just yet.

There's a lot of Irish over here at the Cheltenham Festival (horse racing) this week. I don't think many will be venturing out of the bars and on to the grandstand.

I've managed to avoid being on-call over Easter weekend smiley - smiley As I covered Christmas, they couldn't really have asked me to do Easter too.

Beatrice

I'm off on the St Pat's Monday (but I have a Scottish dancing demo to do in the afternoon, and then a ceili to be at in the evening)

We're not off on Good Friday, oddly, but have Easter Monday and Tuesdya off. Then it's a skeleton staff for the rest of that week, and I appear to be that skeleton.

Sorry Beatrice, I hope things won't be too hectic for you holding the fort down by yourself. Hopefully the weather will be too fine for people to make difficulties for you. smiley - hugsmiley - goodluck

Good Friday is one of the two days in the year when you can't buy alcohol in Ireland. Mind you, they sell enough on Patrick's Day to make up for it.

Knowing what I do of Irish logic, it'll be 29th February (in non leap years).

Looking forward to the Long Weekend - Friday and Monday off.

Normally we might spend the Easter weekend enjoying the sun in our mobile home in the Sunny Southeast, but since we're still getting light snow here, we might give it a miss this weekend.

We're seven weeks into Spring now and it's still snowing!

I'm taking Monday and Tuesday off next week, and I'm going to Italy at the weekend. I never work on Wednesdays, so I've only 3 days working this week and 2 next week.smiley - smiley
