I wrote this a while back, being a huge fan of G and S, and would love to know what people think, and if there's any ways you think it could be improved.
cheers

This is a good Entry. It might be work listing the works in a separate section, as well as mentioning them in the main text as you do. You can use the GuideML unordered list:
First item
Second item
Third item

Sorry. That should read, it might be worth listing ...

Thanks - I will have a geek at how it looks
(and I really don't mind grammar-spelling lapses. I am used to them)

There already is one edited entry on Gilbert and Sullivan http://www.h2g2.com/A101782 However, this other entry contains a woefully small amount of information on Gilbert and Sullivan, and consists primarily as a slam against the duo claiming all their works are the same. [I am not sure it would become edited under today's standards, I know I wouldn't recommend it.]
On the otherhand, I like your entry. Gilbert and Sullivan deserve to be treated with respect.

I, too, enjoy Gilbert & Sullivan. And this is a good article.
Have you considered writing/including information on the plots of the operettas, which songs appear in which etc?
Probably better done in seperate articles - but well worth doing.

I had thought about it but I wasn't sure whether or not to do them as separate articles or include them. If I did include them they would only be brief synopises, also I have a little knowledge of the less famous ones, so I would be putting out a plea for help.
And thanks for all the compliments

Hi Swiv,
Just to let you know this article hasn't sunk below the horizon . Nice work.
If you wanted to take things further and write a series of articles about the individual operettas, the best way to do it might be as a project at the University
(http://www.h2g2.com/University)
So there can be links between them and they can all go live at the same time.
However, I wouldn't let that stop this going forward as a stand-alone entry (it can always be incorporated into the Project later)

It should be included in the Musician's Guild list. will recommend it there, too.

Swiv, as this is better than the existing entry about Gilbert and Sullivan the two yarns will probably be combined. A little birdie tells me that h2g2's editors may be combining some entries in the new year.

Hi Swiv,
Just thought I'd pop in with an official hello... I'm sad to say that we've already got an entry on Gilbert and Sullivan, but we'll combine your entry with the existing one when we can. Hopefully you won't have to wait for too long...

BTW is there any reason that this thread has been moved from peer review to the writing workshop.
Cos if there's any changes I should make to the article, I would like to know.

Hello!
Is anything happening with this
I was thinking of putting in a bit about each individual operetta, but it may take a while.
How do I put this process on hold (you know, just in case)
What does anyone think it needs done to improve it anyway?

A435737 - The Comic Operas of Gilbert and Sullivan - Thread Defunct
Global Village Idiot Posted Apr 25, 2001
Hi Swiv,
This doesn't really need to be in the WW: I believe it was put here because, as an update, it couldn't go through the normal Peer Review process, and there wasn't anywhere else to put it at the time.
However, I'm happy to report that there is now a special forum for updates - http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A496451 - where Jimi X is working very hard at combining new articles with existing ones. Your G&S article has been put on the list there, so this thread is effectively defunct - and there's a fair chance it won't be too awfully long before you see your article in the Edited Guide
