Do NOT legalize it!

Let's face it: when history talks, gods listen.
Whatever good is legalized throughout human history, it was spoiled. Both quality and price. Bigger market - low quality, high price, f****d up peaople...

The rason that canabis is illegal in most of the western world is because america forced it down everyones throats as a precondition of cooperating with other efforts to fight drugs.
in turn it was forced upon america by the head of the alcohol control division of the american government who was a firm believer in prohibition.
Many of the arguaments he used have been thouroughly and repeatedly discredited.
The gateway drug arguament has been shown to be false, as nicotine is now known to permenantly chang your resistance to addictive behaviour, including alcohol and heroine abuse.
on the other hand, pointlessly criminalising medicinal users is something that even the association of police cheif officers is against.
they are even in favour (in principle) of decriminalising personal use amounts.

Im sorry but i have to say as a smoker of cannabis since the age of 14, when it was all Red Lebanese and Double Zero, then later we had the wonders of Soap Bar Morrocan....in these modern times of super hybrid Skunk-Weed, genetically modified plants with high t.h.c contents (a big thank you to all the pot-boffins for that one)....To get back to the point, i feel that as ive never had any problems (appart from the odd 2-3 month drought) getting good quality puff, nor have i found it a problem using without getting caught in domestic and public situations, as a 35 year old all my contacts for
supplying the additionall substance i choose to lace my smoking mixture with are very good and i can get the best prices......So please forgive me if im not jumping up and down, half rolled deck of blue rizlas, silk cut and bestest, smelliest, crystaly-est, driest, imported-est greenest bad-boy-est bush-ish all over the shag-pile whooping like Bez from the happy monday's on a 1991 pink cally at castle-morten with a glo-stick up his iron-star-fish....................
..........So....they've legalised hash is it?......And that improves my life how exactly?......Just means theres MORE munters with no etiquette, taking up the weed with out being turned on to it as the older generations were, straight onto shotties and bucket bongs till they pass out, spikeing each others drinks with L.S.D and E's with no concern or knowledge of how much damage they cause to the victims mind and/or psycological make-up.
One more thing, have to say on this, another saturday afternoon nursing a hangover from friday night, i think they should pass a manditory death penalty for consumption,
possesion with intent to supply and the cultivation of alcahol...............well, till tonight anyway!!
So, go ahead legalise cannabis if you like, but please forgive me if i fail to notice it.
Sorry, what was i saying? Ive completely lost my train of thought....Oh well, anybody got any crisps?

what has america to do with global legislation?
it forced the inclusion of canabis in with things like heroin and cocain in the U.N. drug control cooperation agreement (I can remember what it was called, but it was around 1970).
they did this using discredited propaganda to make pot seem much more dangerous than it actually is.
They also made the cooperation conditional on working against all of the drugs on the list, so if the uk decides to stop fighting canabis, there might be a chance that america with withdraw aid for fighting the importation of heroin and cocain.

I've been reading this forum with interest over the past few days. As a personal, close friend of Mr. 9Bar, I've not felt the need to add anything to his words or opinions, until now. And this is MY opinion!
We live in a rural area, quiet, relatively peaceful but still full of an array of colourful people. I, personally, have been partaking in the puff for 18 years. It's never been a problem getting hold of it, and it's absorbtion into the body has never been overshadowed, or enhanced for that matter, by it's illegality. We just did it, do it, for the same reasons most people our age do it! I'm sure each and every one of us can recall a time when maybe we had a bit too much and hugged the toilet for a while. I hasten to add however, that the toilet has been my best mate on more occasions when the evils of alcohol have interfered with my system! Mr. 9Bar is right, I can vouch for the fact that he is a very young looking 35 year old. I, at 39, also look younger than my years (could be the country air of course!) .. you look at someone who has been drinking for 15+ years, and they don't look so good.Big bulbous noses and redness of the cheeks is an indicator of alcohol abuse.. not pretty! And believe me, I've seen it. I worked at a Rehab Centre for Alcohol and Drug abuse a few years ago, and boy did that open my eyes! So many people destroyed, so many professional people cut down by alcohol. In my year of working there, I could count the 'drug' addicts on one hand. The alcoholics however, were numerous. I now work for a local doctor, and have done for 6 years. He's young, dedicated, and condones the use of cannabis in his patients. Many a discussion with him has revealed that he not only condones the use of cannabis recreationally, but also for it's medicinal and therapeutic qualities. He's one of many GP's with that opinion, and if he could prescribe it, he would. Whether he smokes it himself, I don't know. Not really my business, because in this life we all have choices and those choices are personal. I think the point I'm trying to make here is that you have to 'use' whatever drug it is you decide to put in your body, and not let the drug 'use' you! We all need a wee bit of escapism from the realities and stresses of life, whether it's through drugs (including alcohol because please lets not forget that it IS a drug), religion or hobbies.
Freedom of choice. Respect it.

my thought was: do not legalize it. NOT do not lecture it! You seem not to have grown up enough to make exact profiles. I'm not saying weed ate part of your mind but try to focus a little bit. And, yes, take a puff, kido.

nine.bar Posted Sep 30, 2002
Look mate, ive had enough of this.
lets re-cap; The conversation is whether or not to legalise cannabis, right?.....All my statement was, was that the fact that most
people that already smoke it wont notice the change as they are already getting it cheap and its always in good supply.....thats it, end of chat, i need not right any profiles etc...beacause thats it....and dont EVER call me kido again.......please respond very carefully to this post as you are not reading what people are saying....this may be your language difference as i detect that you are not from the UK and ther may be some difficulty in understanding the way a UK resident forms a
nd structures thier sentences...if this is the case then let me know and ill try and talk less "local"
for you.....9bar

have to be honest, dont understand you, whats "7up" appart from a lemon flavoured fizzy drink, and how did i out LSD and cocaine in the same bucket?...As you accused me of both, and accuse you did....please read my words CAREFULLY, im sure you will see taht LSD and powder only happen to be in the same piece of writing, as in "Smoke weed it'll will get you stoned, oh look a raver is taking a pill of ecstacy" You see how ecstacy and weed can be in the same sentance but not be connected? Hope this clears up your oh-so foggy interpretation of the entry i made.
