one of the best reasons i can think of for the legalisation / decriminalisation of cannabis use (apart from the fact that i really like smoking it) is that it would instantly deprive some really unpleasant people of a highly lucrative source of revenue. The guy you buy it off might be a really nice chilled out kinda guy but sooner rather than later as you progress up the ladder of drug sellers youll run into the sort of people who are happy to take the money from innocent pot smokers and reinvest it in the most appalling things that the organised crime world can think of (and theyve thought of most of it). If it was legal this money would be flowing into the governments coffers instead, to be invested in things like education, health care, roads and nuclear missile submarines (hmmmmmm?)etc.

'Course if you don't like the nasty guys that provide the stuff, you can become one of the upstanding idealists that grow it at home for their own use alone. Genetic engineering, hydroponics, rooting of cuttings and the like, can make your only economic contribution to the illicit marketeers the price of one seed ...
