Answer: There's two effs in paraffin, but no effin' petrol.
Yes folks, the fuel crisis is beginning to bite. First time I've seen more cars waiting at the pumps than parked in the supermarket carpark opposite. Fortunately I filled up on Friday, but with travelling to work every day, I hope I have enough to make it back to Leeds next Saturday. Ho-hum.

Too bleedin' right mate. Try siphoning from other cars and selling it for a tenner a litre. I would but all the cars round here are empty apart from my mum's.

How much did your mum's tank fetch then? 
A couple of blokes got arrested in Gateshead for doing just that. Some petrol stations are pulling similar scams.
Still look on the bright side, you can put an "out of petrol" sign on your car and park where you want (this is assuming your local traffic warden is exceedingly guilible, which isn't necessarily the case). Also another excuse to skive work, though I need the money or I wouldn't be working in the holidays anyway.

Yes, I'd tell you which story, but my Holmes book is in Leeds. I do watch the Simpsons, but I've not seen that one. As a wild guess I'll say Homer couldn't get to work because he was snowed in. Close?

Um... no you're not close at all. Homer crashed the car and instead of getting a new one he bought a snow plough and cleared the snow away from everyone's drive and the story grows from there.

One of my housemates at uni is obsessed with it, so he buys the books when they first come out and as he reads them in two days flat (though getting longer with each volume), I get them quite soon.

ah. I started readin them in july this year, and finished the first three within about 10 days. And that was while I was on an exchange in France.
