I'd like to join...how DO you join?

I would like to join too, but I'm new and very lost. Actually, I wandered around and found this last week, and wanted to join, but since I wasn't a member at h2g2 yet... I put it off!

How do I get the banner/graphic for this in my space? Anyway, it's fun to know I'm not the only one!

Frankly, I've no idea how to get the badge on your page (it's something I've been meaning to ask for ages....).

I'm sure Gosho or one of the other technically competent people will get round to telling you how to do it

If you right click on the picture and select 'Properties' you'll find the Blob number (BXXXXX) assigned to it. If you also go to the Procrastinators page, take the 'A' out of A431911 and replace it with 'test' you'll see the GuideML used to build it. In there somewhere you'll find the part which corresponds to the logo (and in case you weren't aware, you can do that with any h2g2 or DNA entry. In the case of Persoanl Spaces you have to type 'testuserpage' instead of just 'test'). Once you've found that, and if you're using GuideML instead of plain text for your own PS, you can put the logo on it

That's not quite so easy and took me a while to figure out. Take a look at the url for this conversation - http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/F53219?thread=240664&post=3726016 (it'll be slightly different for you because you'll be clicking on a different link to get here). What you need is the F53219?thread=240664 bit to go to the beginning of a thread. If you want to point to a particular post you need the h2g2 post number (not the number of the post in the thread). Since I'm using the Classic Goo skin with frames I get a list of 20 posts at a time in the left hand frame, so I hover my mouse over whichever post I want to link to to find out its h2g2 post number in the url. Let's say I want to link to post 5. That would be F53219?thread=240664&post=3720147 The url in the address field of your browser will look different depending on whether you clicked on your last posting or the latest posting link to get to the thread. Try it a few times to see the difference. And in case you think I'm being a bit hasty in replying and not being a good procrastinator... I should be taking a shower, having breakfast, and getting some parcels ready for mailing right now :-D
