Hello Brown Furby. I am having a problem with Classic Goo.I have just done a guide entry. Radio Revolution. It looks O.K. to me in Brunel and Alabaster, but it's all over the place in Classic Goo. It's also very narrow. How can I sort it out without messing the others up. Pamela.

Hello Pamela
Just putting some links in so I can get to the page easier if I need to go back to it. Or for anyone else who drops by and can help.

Did you fix the page? , as it looks OK to me in all the skins.
I am using Internet Explorer 6. There is not just the problem of the different skins but that computers use different "browsers" and pages look different from one computer to the next.
It might be the embedded pictures as there is a problem where if the text is not longer than the picture on the left/right the next bit goes a bit wrong. You have to put a lot of s in to space the text out, which you seem to have done.
If it isn't fixed can you explain a bit more what you mean by "all over the place". If I can't help myself I will try to find someone else who can.

Hi Brown Furby. My entry looks O.K. to me now. The problem was that it was very narrow, and the line between the links section was down the centre of the screen. Also some of the text was around the side of the picture. What I did was put at the top and at the end. When it widened out the text sorted itself out. I did have width ="800" on my other entry and My Space but they were a bit wide and I had to scroll across,so I've changed them to "700"too. Do they all look O.K now. I have seen them on a computer and they do look different, as you've said.
When I click preferences I only get three skins. the plain skin option doesn't come up. If I do want to use that I go to Alan M6791's Page and use a link there.
I think it's all now. Thanks. Pamela

It looked OK to me yesterday but it looks a bit wrong today.
What I see is the picture going over some of the text.
You Personal space page looks OK, it is just happening in the Radio Revolution one. and only on the first picture the Radio microphone one, the others look OK to me.
It seems to be a combination of using PICTURE EMBED within TABLE ALIGN. Quite which combination makes it go wrong, I can't quite figure out.
h2g2 own front page does this to me (in alabaster) on the bit near the bottom of the page where they have 2 pictures in tables on the same level
e.g. today it is h2g2 logo and Andy Pandy.
So the front page will be done by people (presumably) who know what they are doing so maybe it isn't possible to fix it.
Or perhaps it is just my computer if it looks OK to you now, who knows?
I do have to scroll accross on your page, but I always have had to and do on many researchers pages ( I think it is the tables that cause it) and have become used to it.

p.s. the plain skin is still sort of unofficial.
It was added to help the digibox users because h2g2 was about to remove a trick where they could use the skin from the "360" site and it would have meant they couldn't use h2g2 very well in the official skins.
You need to be in the plain skin already at the time you go to change your preferences, then it is there as a choice. So only those who know about it can use it.

Hi. Iv'e put some more breaks in. How does it look now. Also I forgot the links don't show up in Brunel. I put them in BOLD when I did My Space, but I've put all the dates in BOLD on this page. Any ideas.Pamela.

Hi, It's me again. I've found out I can put coloured text on Brunel. Will try to change the links. Tomorrow. It already is tomorrow.

The extra breaks don't seem to have done anything for me.
I still see the radio picture over the writing, but I don't know how you fix it.
If it is OK for you, and no-one else is complaining, perhaps I should just shut up about it?
Strange about the links in brunel, they do show up on a PC, even if not in bold or color. That must be how the box copes (or doesn't cope) with brunel, I guess.
I have a new box now (for freeview TV and the internet access is a bonus) and I can't even see the brunel writing with that, so brunel and set top boxes must be an evil combination.

Hi Brown Furby. There's no problem with your computer. I've been having a conversation with Alji (about astrology), and I asked how the page looked to him. He had the same problem with the writing as you do, He told me to take the Table out. I've done that but now I've got the problem that it's very narrow again.
It seems O.K in the other skins, so I'll leave it like that for now, for all the help. From Pam.

It is better now, the pictures are not squashed.
I didn't realise you were putting it in peer review, good luck
I would not put anything of mine in Peer Review .

Hi Brown Furby. Sorry I didn't see your last reply until now. There are a lot of rules in Peer Review that I didn't realize. I've had to take the pictures off, so I'm rewriting my entry with them on another page. I haven't had time to finish it yet. I see I've missed a few replies. By mistake I clicked to be notified of all entries in peer review and my conersation box filled up. I' ve unsubscribed from that now. I'll look in on the page. I don't know if my entry will get anywhere, but there's no harm in trying. Why don't you give it a go ? Bye for now .I'm going to watch Holby City. From Pamela

I couldn't really see the advantages of an edited article over and unedited one as they are both found on the searches.
They do get on the Front Page for a day (or 3 if you get a Friday slot), but that doesn't really interest me.
