Hi Luvved!

I was wandering by and saw that you were new and thought I'd stop by. Fascinating introduction! Sounds like you have an interesting challenge ahead of you!

If you need anything, have any questions, or just want to say Hi smiley - smiley, simply reply to this message, or feel free to visit me at my home by clicking on my name above.

There's a handy list of links at the Quick Reference Guide, http://www.h2g2.com/A344756 including links for help on putting together pages, writing guide entries and finding some interesting forums. There's a friendly group at the Newcomer's Welcome Page at http://www.h2g2.com/A5752 and a very helpful group of Assistant Community Editors (ACEs) -- one or more of them may drop by to say Hi sometime... or feel free to visit them first at http://www.h2g2.com/A214796

h2g2 is a wonderful, wacky, place and I think you'll really enjoy it. Have fun playing with your home page layout, write some interesting guide entries, comment on or contribute to other entries, and get involved in the amazing community of forums. If you'd like help finding a café, bar, or swimming pool here, let me know.

If all of this is confusing, just stick this fish in your ear smiley - fish

I really do have to get used to this site... this is the second reply to your reply... the first simply disapeared when I hit the return button when edititng.....

The fish worked... I finally worked out why there were so many references to fish in the various messages I have read... and then after your instruction to put it in my ear, it all became clear... I I remembered the Babel fish. It is SOOOOOO many years since I last read the Guide it is a wonder that my fast depleting brain cells managed to recall the reference.... just goes to show that Carlsberg & San Miguel beer does not do that much damage after all.

I could do with some R&R so point me to the swimming pool. Life is stressful at the moment.... Had a new baby last Friday and I "spat-the-dummy" in work yesterday and resigned on a point of principle..[tip: always good to do this when you already have an offer of employment elswhere]

So I sit at my desk today with not the slightest inclination to do any work..... I suppose I must sooner or later, but for now I am happy to explore H4G2...[OK I give up, the braincells have not managed to drag into the light any reference to h2g2 from the guide... what is that all about?

You'll get used to the site before long. And occassional glitches are part of the game :-) Glad the ><> worked for you! Regarding h2g2: _H_itch _H_ikers _G_uide to the _G_alaxy -- two H's and 2 G's, hence h2g2. Or, as Douglas Adams says: 'It's a lot easier to type than 'www.hitchhikersguidetothegalaxy.com' (those weren't his exact words, but similar). Congrats on the baby and the resignation (assuming you're happy with it!) Exploring h2g2 is a fine idea. There's so much to see and do in both the areas of guide entries, and in the community that has sprung up around it. The swimming pool is here: http://www.h2g2.com/A358823 and The Aroma Caf is a comfortable place to stop by for a cup of coffee, some conversation, or a game of scrabble with the resident blue orangutan named Ook. The Caf is at http://www.h2g2.com/A202924 The current caf thread is http://www.h2g2.com/F26140?thread=71577 and there's a story telling going on around a fire out back of the caf at http://www.h2g2.com/F26140?thread=71357 And that's just scratching the surface. You might also think about what kind of entries you might like to write to add to the guide. I'm sure there's a lot you could contribute about Hong Kong. Or if you're not yet ready to write a guide entry, they usually add a collaborative approach call for assistance each week on the front page. You can also check out the Peer Review page http://www.h2g2.com/PeerReview and see what others are writing and maybe add or comment on theirs. Don't worry if this seems like too much. Just dive in and start exploring whatever is interesting to you, and feel free to ask questions of me or anyone else. :-) Redbeard
