I have a very large barrel that is extremely heavy. What can I put in it that will make it lighter. It is not a gas and by lighter, I mean less heavy?

Nothing
Replace whatever the barrel contains with nothing!

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Nov 23, 2001
Sorry, I misread What as Where.
Greebo, if you didn't eat so many doughnuts, your stomach would not be so large and heavy and you would not have to describe it as a barrel! So you could put normal cat food like dead mice, beetles, cheese and so on into it, instead of that unhealthy doughnut diet and it would eventually become lighter.

Assuming there is some liquid in the barrel, you should put a drain in the (bottom of the) barrel, so the fluid can run out.

put a hole in the barrel.... ( so anything in it will fall out, and if theres nothing in it you will still remove some weight by taking out the material where hole now is)
