h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

This is a great drinking game as it requires only a few of your mates and some adult beverages.

The rules of the game are simple to begin with.
1) No saying any of the words "Drink", "Drank", or "Drunk"
2) You are not allowed to say the number 7, any number with 7 as one
of the digits (ie. 17,27,37,...70,71 etc.), or any number that
is a multiple of 7 (ie. 14,21,28,35 etc.)
3) When one of the numbers mentioned in rule 2 is reached, the
direction of play reverses.
4) Each time a person is required to take a drink, the counting starts over with ONE.

*The game begins with one person (it doesn't matter who) begins
counting with the number ONE. and choosing the direction of play. This is generally the accepted start: "One to my left" or "One to my right"

*The person to the left (or right, again it doesn't matter much)
continues with TWO.
*The person to the left (or right depending on the direction chosen)
contiues with THREE.

Play continues in the same direction, in the same manner until one of the numbers mentioned in rule 2 is reached at which time, the person who would normally say that number simply sits quietly saying nothing (you don't want to give away the fact that you are on a number-mentioned-in-rule-2) and the direction of play reverses. It is up to the person who said the previous number to realize that the direction has reversed and continue with the number that would follow the-number-mentioned-in-rule-2.

**Each time one-of-the-numbers-mentioned-in-rule-2 is mentioned, that person must drink a chug of whatever adult beverage was chosen.

**Each time a person fails to realize that the direction of play has changed, as a result of one of those numbers being reached, and fails to continue with the next number, that person must drink.
(You may want to set a time limit here... say 3 seconds)

**Each time a person is supposed to say a number that you ARE allowed to say and fails to do so, that person must drink.
(Here, again, you may want to set a time limit)

**Each time a person says Drink, Drank or Drunk, that person must drink.


As play continues, you can add more rules as you wish. The more rules you have the more drunk you get.

Additional Rule suggestions:
Not allowed to say anyone's name.
Not allowed to point.
The person to the left of the person drinking must re-fill the glass.
You must say the name of someone not at the table before putting your
glass back on the table
You are not allowed to touch your face.
You are not allowed to say "beer" (or whatever you have chosen to
drink)
I'm sure you can come up with many more.


Okay, so the rules are a bit complicated afterall... but, heck, the things in life worth having don't come easy.
