Actually, the AI's *are* likely to evolve (digivolve ) as we still don't know how to make a true AI from code, but have inklings as to how to create one which we can't determine the action of.
But it could easily be *very* different emotionally...

>>It's still artificial... just that it now is not under our direct controll...
I do not agree! From the point it is sentient and 'self evolving' it is not more or less artificial than human (minds).
A program that is under it's creators control (to be changed, debugged etc) is not a true AI. This is a program emulating the process of a mind.
But IF (it IS a mighty BIG if!) it does becomes aware of it self; sentient and takes control over it's own fate - you can NO longer call it artificial. It were AI but became an I (of a unknown type).
How it would then react it a big question.....

Whoa... a *triple post* (not quite enough!)
I'd still argue it's artifical... we have had a rather large hand in getting it started.
But that's not important.

If i read another person quoting, "The AI becomes an I" or anything else to that effect on this forum, im gonna get medieval on there ass.
sorry.
The question is how does an AI.... KNOW.... when its alive. Rather than if its just another part of its program, e.g. Module "Im Alive". How can the AI be sure this is not a routine in it's own code.....
Once the AI has determined this. What happens next? By this stage the AI will have effectivly re-written itself. From a programming point of view.. well you dont even want to go there.
I think that the final programming of a "Sentient" AI will not involve the coding of Bytes and 0's and 1's in some maze-like language, but will instead use a more "Organic" approach....

How do you KNOW you're alive? Rather than it being another part of your DNA program? How can you be sure this is not a fallacy that society has brainwashed into you at an early age?
