sorry, i know this may be a boring q, but anyways...
My introduction page is being moderated because it contained Japanese. I looked up the moderation page and it says, amongst other things, that stuff in other languages may never be moderated. What happens if it's never moderated? Does it mean I can never post an introduction (it says not to modify intro whilst being moderated!) What can I do? and when(if ever) will i be notified by moderators of any progress?
from Nimbostratus (a new researcher!)
ps> all my intro was, was introducing myself in Japanese, and then explaining what it meant, which was something along the lines of:
How do you do? I am Nimbostratus. Nice to meet you.
pps> *goes to sulk at life, the universe and everything* tehehe

Right now, your intro is in the process of moderation, so it wouldn't fall into the category of something that's "never moderated". Your entry has been referred, which means that one of the moderators has flagged your intro for the house staff's attention, and hidden it in the meantime.
Normally, once something is referred, a decision is made relatively quickly -- either the house staff decide that the material is OK, and unhide it, or they decide that it breaks the house rules, and send an email to the author letting them know what the problem is so that they can fix it.
However, moderation regarding foreign languages generally takes somewhat longer -- it can be hard for them to know whether it's OK or not if they can't understand the language. They can't automatically trust your translations, because there are (unfortunately) people who would write something obscene in another language and then provide a mundane and inaccurate translation.
If you wanted to edit your intro to simply remove all of the japanese (or any other non-English), I'm sure that would be OK. Otherwise, you can wait for a decision from the house staff.
If your intro is decided to have "broken house rules", you should receive an email letting you know what happened -- you can always reply to that email for more info if you're still confused.
Good luck!
Mikey

It is probably best if you edit it yourself, and remove the Japanese.
For our Moderators to check entries, they have to be able to understand them, and I think there might be a long, long wait for someone on the Moderation Team to be able to read it.

AltaVista babelfish translations ( http://babelfish.altavista.com/ ) now convert the following languages in web pages into English:
Chinese,
French,
German,
Italian,
Japanese,
Korean,
Portuguese,
and Spanish.
Could this facility be build into the moderation tools?

You should still have the Edit button on your space. Just click it, and your page will appear. You can delete the Japanese, and click update.
