A great article which I enjoyed reading!
I'll let people with greater culinary skills than mine (ie, everyone else on h2g2) comment on the content which to me appears fine. I'll just mention a couple of inevitable sneaky spelling errors:
Rerally - really
Watcer - Water
Jullieneed – julienned
acording – according
Scoup – Scoop

Doing this within time, is just so show-offy ...
I like the final footnote and the recipe itself... I keep trying to make this one, but can't do it myself without turning it into something getting closer to Singapore noodles/Asian chicken soups as I always add chillies and spices
Looks good

Yum. And thank you for mentioning the cultural connection.
One of my Jewish Studies profs claimed chicken soup was mentioned in a medieval knightly epic - in Yiddish.
You put us all to shame.

Thanks for all the comments. I have had a look at the typos, and added lots of h2g2 links. Thanks Bluebottle! There isn't an entry on Passover though, which is a shame.
I liked that Hotline link too, Lanza. Isn't it a fab idea?
I spent ages, 2legs, getting this one right, and now have started to branch out into the more Asian versions. I keep overdoing the spices and such though. I nearly got it right once, but I forgot to make a note of what I did. You add your Asian chicken noodle soup recipe, and I will give it a bash.
Funnily enough, Dmitri, I hadn't realised this was 'Jewish penicilin' until quite recently, although the fact that Russian cooking and Jewish cooking have a lot in common should surprise no one, nor that Americans are much more familiar with both than the Brits in the main. Can I get buckwheat four without going to a specialist shop? No, I cannot, and it took me a while to work out that that was definitely what I wanted. Most irritating.
I quite like thicker noodles too Anthea, but the kids suck down the vermicelli with ease and abandon, so I stick with that most of the time.
Anyway. I think that's it.

I've no recipe for the asian style chicken noodle soups really... I just sort of make it up on the occasion as I go
The basic one I guess useually starts with a chicken breas, rather than thighs, so its using pre-made, or just made up with a stock cube stock, useually fry the chicken, in strips, or diced, with onion, mushrooms, garlic, ginger, chillies sliced (I prefer green long chillies), then the spices, useually just seeds, fennel (because I@m probably addicted to fennel), cumin, mustard, a small* amount of either ajwain or fennurgreek seed (they're relaly quite bitter), tumeric powder, then, if its going to be singapore noodles, which is I guess basically not quite a soup really, stick in the cooked noodles, then eggs, kinda scramble them in a bit, then chuck in the stock, (trying to use it to get the noodles off the bottom of the pan where thy're useually stuck by this poin), and cook to the right sort of consistancy, then chuck in some soya sauce...
or if its more a soup, skip out the eggs, throw the stock in first, then add in the noodles (which just cook in the stock)
I keep meaning to try make a proper Chinese chicken n sweetcorn noodle soup, but never get round tuit
