I work with a bunch of very hypocritical characters. They put on a facade of friendliness but will quickly stab you in the back in the nick of a second. Iam trying to keep out of it, but its difficult. Some of the things they do and say are rude and hurtful but presented like jokes which I dont buy. I work in a political office which makes it worse as everyones' vying for favours and seeks entrenchment as there are many "perks" and benefits. To add salt to injury, they will blantantly refuse to carryout their duties and no disciplinary action can be taken. I have no idea how to handle this situation.

That sounds like a very tough situation to be in, Monica.
It may be a good idea to record what happens in your journal here (as long as you are sure that nobody from your workplace could trace you via your name or names/places from where you work).
I've left a message on your Space (click on your name to get there) which has a welcome message for you. If you need any help posting to your journal, or anything else, please reply to that message and I'll do my best to help you.

Thanks for your welcome message. Reminds me that I am not alone in this universe. I was frustrated when I wrote that message but I'm learning to cope. Goodday.
