Talking About Hampshire

I've spent the last 3 years living in Southampton, and can honestly say that I'm impressed with the city, and have enjoyed living here. I also am familiar with Portsmouth, and have a great fondness for Winchester and the New Forest.
But I always enjoy learning more about this county!

So, what is New Milton like as a village, and what do you think of Southampton?

Calmores not bad. It used to be better. If you come here avoid the Alldays down water lane. In fact unless you're on a death wish avoid water lane altogether unless you absolutely must.

Calmore's not very far from the new forest. Which is a lot lot lot better than the towns and cities in the other diretcion.

So, is it a nice beach at New Milton?
How big is Calmore - and what is wrong with Water Lane? Gangs? Vandalism?
I live in Swaythling in Southampton, not far from the Flowers Estate - where several children love to be vandals. Where I work they like to come in and steal, throw bricks through the window, set fire to the place (3 times since I've been there), throw chairs and bottles at people and set off all the fire extinguishers at people. Not very pleasant.
But Southampton as a city is quite nice - it has a vast amount of parks in the city centre behind all the shops as well as the common - something quite unique for a city of its size.

I have lived in Hampshire at various times, Longmoor, Mudeford and North Baddesly, near Romsey.
Buckler's Hard is one of my favourite places.

Portsmouth is ok, It has a good second hand clothing shop called one legged jockey, (although the stock isn't as interesting as it used to be ) 'U need us' is a wonderful shop for costumes, party stuff, jokes, games etc. There's a friendly comic shop and at least one of all the standard high street shops.
Plus it has the sea, I always love seing the sea.
Bluebottle, you asked about Lovedean, It's a little Village, (one pub one chapel, couple of shops) plonked on the edge of the sprall that is Waterlooville. I can walk out the gate at the bottom of my parents garden and walk across fields for miles or just down the hill to the Pub

I would recommend the Festival of the Sea, We went last year, and had a fine time, despite getting Soaked
Must go and 'do' Victory, Warrior etc it's terriable how you put off the attractions on you doorstep.

I think southampton is very similar to portsmouth. Without money i would strugglke to last more than three hours in either place.
