I was wandering by and thought I'd drop in and welcome you (another American here). I see you've already jumped in starting to write entries! That's great!
I'm not an official welcomer, but if you need anything, have any questions, or just want to say Hi , simply reply to this message, or feel free to visit me at my home by clicking on my name above.
There's a handy list of links at the Quick Reference Guide, http://www.h2g2.com/A344756 including links for help on putting together pages, writing guide entries and finding some interesting forums. There's a friendly group at the Newcomer's Welcome Page at http://www.h2g2.com/A5752 and a very helpful group of Assistant Community Editors (ACEs) -- one or more of them may drop by to say Hi sometime... or feel free to visit them first at http://www.h2g2.com/A214796
h2g2 is a wonderful, wacky, place and I think you'll really enjoy it. Have fun playing with your home page layout, write some interesting guide entries, comment on or contribute to other entries, and get involved in the amazing community of forums. If you'd like help finding a café, bar, or swimming pool here, let me know.
If all of this is confusing, just stick this fish in your ear

Not again RB. This is worse than simulpost.
Sorry American Girl, you have to bear with us on this. Redbeard has beaten me to about 3 or 4 posts today, anyway the main thing is to have fun
Catch you later.

Hello! Thanks for the warm welcome. This community seems down right friendly and a fun place to hang out at (which is something i precisely don't need--another distraction from my last year of high school!). Anyways, I hope to meet a lot of new people and become engaged in rather interesting (if not pointless) conversations.

Yes, it's a friendly and fun place. And while you don't need a distraction from completing school, you can always look at it as part of your education. You can write more entries for creative writing practice (there still isn't an approved entry on Atlanta, although it looks like someone tried a start at one at http://www.h2g2.com/A68528), you can do research in the guide for some of your homework projects, and you can engage in pointless and interesting conversations for... well, for the fun of engaging in pointless and interesting conversations.
Or am I just rationalizing my own addiction here?

In fact, this place is so civilised and nice, we've given you 4 days to settle in before bombarding you with political propaganda. May I please direct you to the h2g2 Post, where you can get the lowdown on the h2g2 Presidential election, in which I'm running, and then if you'll conduct yourself to the Big Probe poll run by E Vibenstein and vote for the best candidate for the job [CHEAP PLUG] ie ME! [/cheap plug]. The Post can be found at the bottom of the homepage, the poll by going to my page, then to the thread 'Further ice-cream', then to E Vibenstien's page, then via his link. [Redbeard] You didn't do it. I have to, considering my ranking. It's not last, neither.

For shame, Baldrick. For shame.
(BTW, I'm not saying that Baldrick might not be your choice for candidate, American Girl, I'm saying that otehr candidates deserve a looking over. Like The Celery, for example (Sorry, couldn't resist.))

And you're no better than you should be, Affy (as my grandmother used to say).
I'll just say Hi, American Girl, welcome to h2g2.
Here's a useful hint: to navigate to the end of long threads in forums, type &latest=1 after the URL.
Hi, Caroline!

Amy forgot to mention that she's rooting for Peregrin during the election.
(Now my shameless plugs can be justified!)
