h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I upgraded my old pre-BBC account yesterday, and while I can change my name and post to conversations, nothing seems to be updating my Personal Space.

I edited my introduction, which doesn't display, but is still there to be updated if I try to. The User Data box resolutely refuses to call me anything other than 'Researcher 27901'. I tried to add a journal entry, but it won't display either. And none of the conversations I have contributed to are appearing.

(Oh, and GOO didn't appear to have an 'Edit Page' button, or at least I couldn't see it anywhere)

Am I as dim as a Golgafrinchan Telephone Sanitiser, or is there a bug somewhere?

It may possibly be due to the fact that the servers are having to fulfil lots and lots of requests and are feeling the strain at the moment, there are almost twice as many registered users online as there are normally. It may not be this, though... but if it is, try again later...

I'll wait a while longer then, but it's been like this since last night.

I am steadfastly refusing to panic though...

Maybe its something else then. But the not panicking is good. Don't panic. I'm sure someone with more answers than me will be along soon... or I hope so...

Joanna, having just looked at your page, and despite my eternal gratitude for your having responded so quickly to my query, I have one question....

How utterly bizarre - I've fixed your problem, Jynnan Tonnyx. For some strange reason the 'Active' flag in the database was set to '0' when it should have been '1'. A glitch, but easy to fix from this end.

Humble apologies for the strangeness of your re-introduction to h2g2, and I hope that it all works properly now. Certainly looks healthier...

Thanks for helping me out... I have to admit to being a bit spooked by the h2g2 database knowing that I don't take enough exercise, maybe I should try being more active myself and these sorts of things might not happen

If only it was as simple as changing a 0 to a 1, I'd be fitter and healthier with a lot less hassle!

Quantum mechanics, eh?

Rather you than me I have to say... Much as I find quantum physics and all that a really fascinating subject, I generally find life can be complicated enough without having to try to wrap my brain round that particular subject

As for |Phi|², I find myself thinking that's something to do with complex numbers, and with eigenfunctions I'm afraid I'm now looking at you as if you are speaking a foreign language
