Gnomon - time to move on

Is it working?

I added Galaxy Babe to my subscribed list yesterday. Her "Pink" entry is on the front page today, but I don't see it, or anything else, in the Subscribed Entries section on my page.

I'm sorry SEF, but that posting does come across as unnecessarily rude.

Wouldn't you have thought Gnomon would have been among the people who knew who had ownership of entries then?! If anything that's a compliment rather than simply assuming a lack of knowledge (as might be the case with others). Which is why it then raises the issue of whether the advertising wording of this new feature is faulty in perhaps giving the impression that the *original* author of an EG piece would be the one on which it acted rather than the proxy "author".

Gnomon - time to move on

The advertising said that it only applied to Edited Entries, so it should apply to this, since it is the only Edited Entry published since the new feature was introduced.smiley - erm

If on the other hand it only applies to new non-edited entries, anyone who is subscribed to me is in for a disappointment. I don't tend to create new entries any more as I have about 500 old ones which I recycle.

Well the way to test that is for someone to subscribe to someone else and then have that other person create a new (not necessarily exciting) ordinary entry and see if it pops up. I'm guessing that that bit works though.

Where I think you've fallen victim is to not only the mis-wording of the feature but also the misrepresentative time-stamp on edited entries. Firstly, you would probably need to be subscribed to the actual account which creates the edited version of the entry (perhaps the sub-editor unless the software also goes ping when ownership of an A-number is transferred). Secondly, you would have to have been subscribed when that A-number page was actually created rather than when its status was changed to being Edited and a new date was faked on it (unless the software is again supposed to go ping on those events).

The page's wording about Edited Guide Entries was wrong. This feature is designed to work for regular guide entries, not (specifically) edited guide entries. I've removed the EG reference from the FAQ page.

The Edited Guide doesn't particularly need any more tools for tracking it - it already has the front page, the 'Month' page and the 'Coming Up' page. This feature is aimed at regular pages.

Sorry for the confusion.

Does this mean that people who are subscribed to my entries won't get those which are edited by the smiley - thepost team, although they're the ones I've written, but that I'll get the entries my friends subedit, although they're not the ones my friends have written?
At least this is how I understand SEF.

I'm not really here

""Indeed, Sub-Editors create the entry finally becoming the Edited Entry."

Just want to query this - when an entry is picked by a Scout and it's accepted by the Eds, the newly created entry gets the Eds name on it until it's sent to a sub. A29091017 for example.

So I would assume that it's actually created by the person accepting the pick?

In case it's sent to a sub before anyone sees it.

Natalie keeps appearing on other people's Entries for some mysterious reason...do give us a shout if she appears on your Entry for no good reason! It's not deliberate, honestly! smiley - blush

I noticed it started happening ages ago, I assumed an under the bonnet change made it happen and it wasn't picked up on. You go away when it's allocated to a Sub. smiley - hug
