Good question.
My machine has been invaded by various types of malware... and, more worryingly, a virus.
Firefox seems to be worst hit. I'm using Internet explorer now, although that's not much better.
Google won't work for me at all. 
It's the text on the right-hand side that's obscured.
I'm an Alabaster boy.
Sorry to have raised an alarm if it's not merited.
