Cool old Guy with a little more then a correction
"< F41181?thread=8313445 > are some points that really should be addressed in the entry. (More or less similar to the other conversations on the Entry)
Here are some more points:
each year has a Theme, many artists will anticipate their work to this theme.
After the Temple burn 'Larry Harvey' announces next years theme.
Regional (worldwide) Burner Organisations created last years a circle of their art around the man.
The 'Man Base' is not always a pyramid, last year there was not even a base, some years ago it was a .
There are three 'organised' objects in the city, The Temple, The Man and Central Camp
There is a temporary airfield with control tower and call sign.
Black Rock City is a planned circle part. The radiant ways are time numbered. The Man is in the center and behind it The Temple at 12:00 or 0:00 hour. At 6:00 is the Centre Camp, the only place to buy anything, to know Ice and .
Center Camp is surrounded by Rods road (in memory of Rod one of the artists involved for years in building the effingy). The inner edge between the city and the man is The Esplanade, all other semi circular roads are alphabetic named with the years theme in mind.
The entire site is closed for 'public' and the perimiter is a thrash fence, this to prevent MOOP (Matter out of Place) to be blown onto the Black Rock Desert. The perimiter is a near five sided shape.
The Man road, Temple road, Esplanade, 9:00 and 3:00 (between Man and Esplanade) are lined with lanterns. These are each night lit by the Lamp Lighters procession.
The Fire Conclave is on the crossing of Rods Road and the Man road. This is where the Lamp Lighters start from. The Fire Conclave also light the Burns.
Many art objects are created to be burned, special preparation is taken care of to prevent burnscars on the desert, also a perimiter is set out at the burn of the object. Before the objects are burned these buildings can be visited/ climbed/ played with/ read by the Burners (participants of the festival).
Bicyles are the preferred way of transport in the city, there are bike stands near many places.
Art cars are a topic by themself, limited to 5Mph vehicle-lit at night but often also flooding the playa with coloured, strobing or fire light. Several are ship shaped with sails, illuminated and or moving waves or just a drifting raft. Others resemble dragons, space ships a golden gate bridge just a giant brick or dozens of cupcakes.
Portapotties (teemporary mobile toilets) are lined along the main roads. They are during the festival often in and outside redecorated by participants (in a tastefull way).
Sometimes commercial enterprises try to blend in on a more or less commercial basis, these are immediately banned from the site.
Before I forget (how can I? I am listening to it), there is a local radio station BMIR (Burning Man Information Radio), 94.5 at the playa www.bmir.org on the internet. They broadcast 24/7 live from the playa with advertisements of the local events (a nose cleaning job at the purple lady tent or the drag and burn of a 30ft (10m) Trojan Horse) live performances, non conformistical music, the weather and the traffic conditions just outside Black Rock City. Auto random play during the rest of the year, still some sparks of last years event will pass by. A voice like Eddie the shipboard computer of the Heart of Gold does a lot of announcements.
Really weird things can happen on the playa, the underground tube flooding and traffic detours due to hot spots are normal.
Of other linguistic and unsettling details are available.
I am afraid this comes down at a rewrite, perhaps even a Peer Review Cycle. "

Cool old Guy re-reading the Update procedure
"Nothing new, not really changed in five years.
Perhaps *Copy this text into a new entry that you have created and use this to work from. You'll have to delete everything before the first tag and everything after the last tag before saving it.* could use some clarification (not for me).
I used to suggest:
1 create a new entry,
2 check the Guide ML button,
3 Copy all _between_ the and tags
4 Paste this into your new entry between the and tags
5 Any credits can be added by the Sub-Editor
(Ok leaving them some work but having to go on about User numbers and dedicated GuideML tags may be a bit overdone for someone not familiar with the Guide)
,
I will inform Researcher and Sub-Editor
Then take some time to write a full blown article and wait for their reply (if any)
Will have to be uptodated before the 'Carnival of Mirrors' (30-august-2015) "

Cool old Guy twelve years Researching for the Guide
"< A87853765 > Did not managed to get trapped by the Captcha, guess I have made a dozen updates a day.
Besides have more or less finished the update, will now have to wait some time for any of the previous writers to comment.
For one thing ths is a personal record in having something like a representable Entry finished in only 2 days, no wonder I feel exhausted. "
