Hmm... for some reason it's just not finding the BLOB. Not sure what to do here smiley - erm

I did delete the BBC link though, as it wasn't going anywhere!

Perhaps the Eds can find the blob: B5867923

TRiG (Ireland) A dog, so bade in office

For now, I've enclosed the picture tag within <!-- comments -->, so it doesn't appear as a blank box.

Some blobs did go missing at some time in the past. I think TiT made a collection of them. Or perhaps it was SEF.

The hopscotch image I know about is for the much earlier A569982 (a collaborative entry on several playground games). Whereas that entry and blob number are right at the point where the old blob system collapsed.

SEF

Checking the FrontPage Archive for the date of that entry (ie 2nd July 2004 => A2137871 ), reveals that it wasn't the one which received a frontpage image of its own at that time anyway. It was the Bob Hope entry which led that day. I don't recall whether it might have acquired an image later, eg from CA tests.

I considered using that hopscotch blob in this entry as a temporary fix, but that one has only numbers up to 6 while this one clearly describes a layout that goes up to 10.

You could reproduce the layout with TABLE tags.

Difficult to do with the numbers on it, though, particularly since 1, 4, 7 and 10 have to be centred on the central line.

I don't think it's hard (unless h2g2 processing software doesn't support the relevant code!). You just use COLSPAN="2" to stick together what are effectively half-width cells and then use ALIGN="CENTER".

Hm. I might try that.

I can't get it to work. This is the best I could come up with:

Not bad. But ditch the border on the outlining table and stick either to colouring the background of the used cells and have a contrasting font inside, or insert a bordered single-cell "table" inside the unbordered cells for each actual numbered paving.

OK, I've changed it. What do you think now?

I'm thrilled to see you will 'talk' on h2g2 unlike the silent treatment and snide links on the other messageboards.smiley - biggrin

The H2G2 Editors

We do indeed seem to have lost a blob; we'll go on the search for it but in the meantime we've added a photo from the BBC database. However, it's of a rather unorthodox layout, so I'm not sure if it adds more confusion! Gnomon's grid is a lot easier to understand; perhaps it would work best within the Entry?

I'm happy to have my grid put into the entry, but I'm not sure how to do it. The tag has a nice little EMBED atribute. I don't think I can do that with a .

I would have put the paired numbers into separate cells as their own tables too.

> "The tag has a nice little EMBED atribute."

TABLE has the ALIGN attribute to do the EMBEDding of the whole thing. PICTURE is an h2g2 cheat rather than a genuine HTML tag and, last time I checked, it was turned into an IMAGE inside a TABLE in the final code for the generated page.
