This is the closest forum I could find for my problem. I have a pre-bbc account under the name of Roman Holiday, researcher number A225688, and a new bbc account, under the name romanholiday ... I can't get back into my old account, as I've lost the password, but I want to delete the old account and all it's entries. Can the Guide do that for me? Or do I need the old password? I can't even remember which e-mail account I opened it from ( genie, breathe .. maybe ) although it's a fair bet the user name contained the words 'romanholiday' ... any ideas?

Accounts are never deleted because that would leave holes in conversations. Your best bet to get the password is to email [email protected] (i think that's right) with all the information you have, and they will try and give you the correct information.

romanholiday, are you sure about the number? The A-number gives a XML-error, the U-version does not exist.
And why should you delete everything?

Yes, it is. That's the homepage I set up a year or so ago. But now can't edit it since I can't get in at it. Why?

Have you e-mailed the staff at the BBC as Tango suggested?

Good! They won't respond today, because they don't work sundays (at least not officialy), but you should hear back sometime tomorrow.
