hey vegiman thanks for the cool quick counter - its a beautiful touch to my page! ... by the way, ive got an user page that i wrote that i am considering using as a college essay ... not really meant to be a guide entry but i would like comments on it from all the genius researchers milling around h2g2 - any suggestions? thanks

The salad was lovely - I think my first posting was about 14 weeks ago - one week after h2g2's launch. I waited a week cos I thought it would be crowded at first.

I notice you were around for a while before you dipped you toe into the whirlpool of h2g2 - My page Number U34006 - your is U37153 so I guess a week or so before you. - I still haven't figured it out.

I know you along with others have helped me a lot.I was just about to give up on ever sorting it out.
I thought all the topics would be about very complicated subjects, and that I would feel real stupid, trying to butt in.

Long time no hear. No need for thanks, as far as I am concerned we are all just one big happy family who sometimes like to have a moan about h2g2. Glad you like whats going on in and around my page. Have you tried the visitor counter clock on your page. Only one problem with it, it also counts how many times you visit your own page. I have kept a record and good 30% of the 123 visitors (to date) to my page were in fact little ol me logging on and hitting the refresh button.

At least I can see that I have about a hundred or so of true visitors a week.. I am going to have to learn more html and get more info on who is logging on to my page - If I find out how I will let you all know.

MM - Always a welcome visitor, A lot of people are a bit shy to start with. This is why I always leave the welcoming mat down for all newbies. Btw Just the salad for me thanks - To much of the other stuff - when I join in at the party.

Thanks for the compliment - tend to jump into anything I do with both feet.

I tell you what - How about you and me getting together and writing a researchers welcome page for newbies. It will be a bit slow to start with cos I am on my hols this week. Not going anywhere, so I will still be popping in from time to time.

Write this down (juniors) and keep if safe somewhere, I will explain later.

To put any picture on a page - it has to be posted on the net somewhere. If you have a certain picture in mind - search the net it might be there. I you have a picture on your computor you wish to use then find someone who has spare space on their pages off h2g2 - If you like get your own web site at:

http://www.xoom.com or somewhere similar like Yahoo - you can then post your own pics & images there.

The only other way is to find someone who has there own web page. I have one but as yet not got round to finding out how to do it. I believe saffire has a web page - Fenchurch M Mercury has one which she uses to give everyone there personalised fishes. If you have a picture you want to post I suggest Fenny - saffire - MadMunk if you can wait for him to get back from the Middle east - Pastey, Ask any of these and they may give you a little space on their website. Other than that you will have to wait till I get to know whats, what. That could be a while.

You are right, it was a while before I dared dip my toes into H2G2. I did'nt know where to start.
I found the whole thing intriguing and frustrating at the same time. Your idea of a page just for newbie's
sounds terrific.Then some of the ones H2G2 are losing, may stay around longer to contribute and enjoy.
