I was wandering by and thought I'd say Hi. As far as I can tell, you are the only Lintilla here, so go for it.
I'm not an official welcomer, but if you need anything, have any questions, or just want to say Hi , just reply to this message, or feel free to visit me at my home by clicking on my name above.
There's a friendly group at the Newcomer's Welcome Page at http://www.h2g2.com/A5752 so you can stop by and introduce yourself there. There's also a handy list of links at the Quick Reference Guide, http://www.h2g2.com/A344756 including links for help on putting together entries and pages.
There's a wonderful group of volunteers called the Assistant Community Editors (ACEs) and one or more of them may drop by to say Hi sometime... or feel free to visit them first by dropping by at http://www.h2g2.com/A214796
h2g2 is a wonderful, wacky, place and I think you'll really enjoy it. Have fun playing with your home page layout, write some interesting guide entries, comment on or contribute to other entries, and get involved in the amazing community here.
If all of this is confusing, just stick this fish in your ear

Umm... Yeah, hi! Welcome aboard
Actually, Redbeard's already said the most important stuff, so I'll just add a welcome on behalf of the ACE's. If there's anything you're having problems with, feel free to ask.
Share & Enjoy!

Thanks a alot, the ACE thing was really bugging me and I couldn't figure out what it stood for. Thanks for the great links! I'm feeling right at home.

Yeah, I like to jump in, beat the ACEs to the punch, and steal their best welcome lines now and then. Hi, Bistro
Bistro's the first ACE who welcomed me when I arrived, Lintilla. Glad to see you're feeling at home. Keep exploring and have fun!

Hi,
As St. Mark would have said if he had been here:
"Your name is Legion, for you are many."
Hope you and your sisters are all well. Please send them my love.
(Thinks of Rula Lenska ... Mmm)
Welcome, Lintilla

...hi, I guess... *if eyes could kill...*
I wouldn't mind you stealing my lines, if it wasn't because you've becomed so much better at it than I

Well, umm... *stammers a bit more*
It probably has something to do with the fact that he hasn't volunteered to become one yet..
I guess that even though I've been here a month now, I still think of myself as relatively new, and I'm still exploring all the things I want to do here -- participating in the community, writing entries, etc. If I become an ACE, I'd really want to treat the responsibility seriously, so I want to make sure I can make the commitment.
On the other hand, I really enjoy welcoming people and helping others out here, and I end up doing it a lot for fun. I'll probably end up volunteering before too long, just so I can drop the 'I'm not an official welcomer, but...' line.
*considers rushing right over to volunteer*

I have one more quick question;
Why is it that when I switch into Classic Goo there is no longer a button I can click on to see "Who's Online"?
Welcome, Lintilla
Redbeard (Thanks to all who supported The Celery!)) Posted Jun 26, 2000
Since Alabaster is the new skin, they incorporated into it a few extra useful things like the who's online button, but they did not add them to goo, probably figuring that the goo structure didn't lend itself well to the clutter of extra buttons.
However, good news for goo users is that it's now easier to put the 'who's online' gadget on your page. (used to involve a bunch of javascript).
To add a who's online link which will pop up the little window, simply add this on your page in GuideML:
Who's online
Just for fun, I've played around with adding some buttons to my home page (see near the top). If you want to use something like that, let me know and I can show you.
...
By the way, I have now volunteered to be an ACE, and it's all your fault! I'll just wait to see what happens.

I think I passed about 5 million of your sisters in the coridor a while back, but none of them seem to have signed up to the guide yet.
Welcome Lintilla 1.

Thanks!
If you see them again please be sure to drop in and tell me! They never come around to visit... families can be so difficult. Especially large ones.

Maybe all the other Lintillas ran into Allitnils!
Redbeard, it'll be good to have you on the ACE team.
My ISP is behaving really badly at the moment, thus curtailing my ability to welcome people.
But welcome, Lintilla!

Thanks, Jim
Too bad with the ISP... nothing worse than having the time to get on here and not being able to!

Lintilla Posted Jul 2, 2000
I give you permission to blame me for any bad ACE experiences, Redbeard.
*knowing this will never happen and feeling very secure in this statement*

Hmm... I'm not too worried about bad experiences there, Lintilla, but I'll be ready to blame you if any come up!
Years ago, I did a short job selling door-to-door and got a lot of doors slammed in my face and survived (though I'd never do it again). And I can't imagine someone slamming the door in my face here
*tries to think how that might happen.....*
RB: Hi, Newcomer! Just thought I'd welcome you to...
NEWCOMER: Get the hell off my page! What do you think you're doing coming here!
RB: Well, I just wanted to see if I could help with...
NEWCOMER: I've got a shotgun and I'll use it! 1... 2....
*RB Runs back to his own home page.*
