my little girl used a wooden spoon to chew on when she was teething

I cut my first tooth on Great Uncle Bill's petrol lighter. For the next 16 years he would proudly show the dent in the casing at all the family gatherings!

smoking from an early age eh!

My Granny's locket still bears my uncle's toothmarks I cut my teeth on a bone beaded necklace that my daughter's still got, I wouldn't let any of mine teeth on it though, 'Elf 'n' Safety you know

When you think what we used to do. And the kids were always so healthy!

Yup, playing out, getting really mucky, climbing trees, playing conkers, sledging down the middle of the road in winter, fishing for tadpoles in the spring, falling in the pond, playing British Bulldog... ah, those were the days.

Mind you, as we've got a horsechestnut tree in the garden, we still play conkers, I've just had to pack a crop off up to the eldest grandkids, two of whom are at college!!

Riding in the back of the pickup truck around hairpin turns and fighting over who got to sit on the wheelwells...

Sitting on Pa's lap as he drove the tractor, smuggling a lamb up to my bedroom on a cold night.

Sitting on the back of Dad's sidecar combination, with younger siblings in the sidecar. Riding through Delamere Forest, shouting 'Faster Daddy!'


And no helmet!

Helmets were for cissies but bandanas were

i am a bad dad!!!!!?

i keep shoving my kids up trees with phrases like

'its a tree climb it' or 'i used to do it as a kid and it never did me any harm'.......????
