Hello and welcome to the wonderful community of h2g2 , also called 'hootoo '
I am your <./>ACE</.> and have come to meet you and to greet you and to help you with your first steps on this site.
First things first :
, there's always somebody near to help you with whatever your problem might be. For example you can reply to this message and/or ask me a question by simply pressing the reply button. Or you can click on the name above this message, which will bring you directly to my Personal Space ( recommended ), where you can leave a message for me.
You may want to check out the Canadian Researchers' Club at A1037323 - there seem to be quite a few researchers from Ontario ( and elsewhere in Canada)
Emmily has created a shiny new page : h2g2 in a nutshell here A8468742
Feisor has set up a wonderful page with hints and links, so please, go and explore them here: A719840
After the idea and request of a friend, I've set up a page here: A12412513
Things you should know before you start :
This is an open forum, so everything you post can be seen by everybody else, and you cannot delete it, nor can you correct it once it is sent. This is where the 'preview' button below your answering box comes in handy
The only thing you can edit or delete, is any guide entry you create,( go here for more info : A53209 ) which includes the introduction on your Personal Space.
If you reply to this message and tell me a bit about your interests, I can most certainly point you directly to the best places to go.
This is where I would explain a few site-specific things, but my friend said it was too long, so I'll wait until you ask
Take your time, have a look around the site, and enjoy yourself
P.S. I'm certainly prone to having forgotten something vital to you, so please don't be shy, hit the reply button below this message

Hello! Thanks for the welcome, it's very much appreciated. Certainly more than the typical "Hello and welcome to our place, have fun okay bye" that you get elsewhere. Makes me feel like I'm very close to having a face amongst all the faceless members/researchers. Maybe I've got a nub where my nose would be or some such .
Thanks for pointing out the Canadian Researchers' Club, it's a mighty interesting thing and I'd most likely not have found it myself. The other links seem quite helpful, too, so thanks again.
And I wouldn't mind hearing that "site specific stuff," who knows, it could change my life. Or... at least give me something with which to kill some time until supper, anyway.
So long, and thanks for all the greetings.

Hello,
thanks for coming back to me, that's the first step to become somebody with a face When you stick around and take part in conversations, you'll soon get to know people and vice versa.
You're the second to ask about the site-specific things I mentioned
You've already come across one of them: the <./>ACES</.>, who are part of the many <./>volunteers</.> of the site
This is neither a messageboard, nor is it a chatroom,so textspeak isn't wanted and is frowned upon.
It will take sme time to get used to the site, it's a vast space, I've been here for three years now, and there are still things I haven't discovered yet.
Btw, for the nearly full smiley list, go here <./>smileys</.>
Hope you had a nice lunch
Get back to me anytime you have a question or just want to talk.
Bel
