True, Bangladesh is south and west of PART of India - but mainly it is North and east of (what most people would recognise as) India. No, honestly, it is... look on a map. See that sticky-out thing that looks like a small Africa? That's what most people think of as India.
I hope you survived the winds and rain which rocked much of the south (even Gulshan, for heavens sake!) 27th/28th October 2000.
