Omens of Oblivion: Escaping the Cultists
Standing with her hand raised, Freya realised she now had gained access to a weapon. This gave her an idea. Lowering the ceremonial dagger, Freya asked to be given some time to compose herself so as to be in the proper mindset to make the human sacrifice.
'Very well,' said the priestess, looking disdainful.
As Freya descended from the altar, she looked around for Harrow, and managed to lure him away from the other Cultists. She led him into the darkest corner in the cave and, when she was certain no one could see them, slashed his throat in one quick, smooth move. Kneeling down, she retrieved her armour and weapons he had confiscated earlier.
She used her cultist robe to hide her armour and calmly strode back towards the alter, pretending to be ready for the sacrifice. Instead, she grabbed the book and made a run for it, when all hell broke loose. The ground shook violently, sending everyone staggering, struggling to maintain their balance. The stone statue next to the altar toppled forward, crushing the Argonian lying on it.
Suddenly, alarms went off everywhere, and she found her way back blocked by locked gates. Turning around, she desperately tried to locate another exit from the cave, when someone grabbed her arm. Swirling around, ready to defend herself, she was both relieved but also very surprised to see Andreas.
'Come with me, quickly - I've found another way out!'
Together they started running in the direction Andreas had indicated but, by now, the cultists started organising themselves and attacked the. Slashing wildly around her, Freya fought side by side with Andreas, while slowly drawing back into a dark tunnel, only to find it blocket by metal bars.
'This way, there's a side tunnel here!' Andreas pulled her with him and, casting all caution aside, the started running as fast as they could, with the sound of footsteps following them echoing in their ears.
