Omens of Oblivion: Cloud Ruler Top

During his ride to Chorrol, Jauffre had stopped at Weynon Priory to hide the Amulet of Kings in the secret room behind the bookcase, thinking it would be safer there than on his person. However, on his return Eronor, the shepherd, came running towards him.

'Help! You must help! They're killing everyone at Weynon Priory!'

Jauffre rode towards the priory, dismounted and hurried towards the chapel building when brother Piner emerged, fighting furiously to hold back his attackers that had followed him outside. Together, Jauffre and brother Piner managed to subdue their enemies.

'The prior?' Jaffre enquired.

'Dead.'

Fearing the worst, Jauffre entered the priory and ran upstairs, only to find the door to the secret room open, and the Amulet gone. It was obvious the enemy had been spying on them all along. Fearing that Cloud Ruler Top would be their next target, Jauffre ran outside, mounted his horse and rode off.

Unaware of what had taken place at the priory Freya, who was feeling much better, especially after another dosis of Kurz' chicken soup, was preparing herself for the journey. Vilena looked at the assembled members of her guild and announced:

'I'll need two trustworthy members to stay here to secure the guild hall - Modryn, you stay here and try to find out as much as possible about this business.'

Her gaze wandered, thinking of who else to leave behind. When she looked at Andreas, his heart almost skipped a beat - no, please, not him!

'Honditar, you will keep an eye on the guild hall.'

The Altmer hunter looked uncomfortable.

'Can I do it from outside?' he asked.

Vilena thought for a moment, then replied:

'I'm afraid not, reports from the attack on the chapel in Anvil seem to suggest that the creatures materialized inside it since nobody outside realised what was going on until they heard the screams.'

Honditar looked disappointed, but didn't object. Meanwhile, the rest of the guild prepared themselves for the long ride, that would take them past Waynon Priory and Bruma, and then up into the mountains. Warm clothing was a necessity, since the snow lasted the whole year around in the mountains.

The ride turned out to be pretty uneventful, much to Kurz' disappointment. They didn't see anyone around at Weynon Priory, since both brother Piner and the shepherd Erenor were cooped up in the shepherd's cottage, hiding. The sheer number of the group seemed to scare off wolves as well as bandits; besides Freya, there were the two Orc brothers Kurz and Lum, the guild leader Vilena and her son Viranus, the guild blacksmith Sabine and the young Blade leading the way.

The sun had almost set when they finally arrived at Cloud Ruler Temple. A harsh voice shouted down at them from the wall surrounding the temple.

'Halt! Who goes there, and what is your business here?'

My name is Freya, and I believe Jauffre is expecting me!' Freya shouted back.

'And who are those accompanying you?'

'Members of the Chorrol Figthers Guild' shouted Vilena.

'Very well, you have been granted entrance.'

Creaking, the giant double doors slowly opened to let the party through. Dismounting, they led their horses inside, one after one.
