This was going to be a rant about the weather we had while I was trying to walk home yesterday, but then, as I was thinking of how I would word my rant, it happened again - some combinations of words sounded interesting, that feeling of a flow... so I feel another 'contemplation' coming up.
Oh - and while googling I discovered that the proper expression for the phenomenon is 'freezing rain'
*jots down the word combinations while she still remembers them*
Freezing rain...
Wet enough... ...soak you...
Instant freezing/freezing instantly...
...reducing friction... ...to nothing
...ice... clear as to almost be invisible...
...lethal... Nah, not lethal - got to switch that with another expression... neck-breaking?

One winter there was an ice storm, which downed a number of power lines, made driving extremely treacherous, and turned the landscape into a sparkling jewelled wonder..

Lethal; neck-breaking... Treacherous? Would do me better in this connection.
Another term for this stuff is 'black ice'. Could be balanced against Purple rain?
