Well, I've got myself to blame, for trying to take a short nap in the humid warm afternoon at around 4 pm - falling asleep soundly (as I usually do the minute I lie down) and not waking up until 11 pm, because of the oddest dream...
Right, so it was kind of like a RPG (Role Playing Game) only the more slash/bang kind all about actiona which I tend to avoid.
I was thrown out of an inn (don't know why - I certainly wasn't drunk) with the door closed very firmly behind me. The building was rectangular and very long, and at the far end I could see two guards starting their round, fortunately away from me.
I run around the corner in the opposite direction, knowing I'd find a door there (How? Simple - I've had this dream before I think - either that or experiencing 'déja-vu' in a dream). I stepped inside (nothing more than a closet really) and slammed the door shut. I remembered that it was a bit difficult to closely properly, and I had to make several attempts before I could lock the door.
Sure enough, there was someone who had noticed my efforts of hiding myself - a huge viking-looking man at least 2 metres (appr. 6.6 feet) tall (could that have been Wotan from The Dark Times?) who appeared outside the door. He tried to peer inside, but I was almost certain that he had not seen me, since there was no light inside the closet.
Next thing I knew he was calmly ripping the door open by pulling of one of the hinges and bending a corner of the metal door outwards! Then he simply reached out and grabbed me with one of his muscular arms and lifted me out, holding me at arm's length up in the air! I was so baffled that all I could say was 'Hi! *nervous smile* Nice to meet you!'
The viking-type person did not utter one word, but started walking, still with me dangling at arm's length when a slimy looking flying creature snatched me away from him. In contrast with the viking, this character was talking non-stop. We flew right over the heads of the guards doing their round and I had to pull up my legs to avoid kicking one of them in his face, but they simply did not seem to be noticing us.
The slimy creature turned out to have a kind of platform at one end o f what appeared to be a big hall - and it seemed he intended to use me for some kind of gladiator-style fights. There was a very feline-looking woman next to me who said that I'd be needing all my nine lives to survive - but I simply shrugged and told her that I didn't think my number of lives were limited to just nine (whatever that's supposed to mean).
Next thing I remember is someone attacking me, which woke me up - and the memories of the dream slid away like a handful of sand slipping through my fingers - there were a lot more details, but they've evaporated.
Odd thing about the déja-vu - I've experienced this several times before in dreams

This is a bit complex, I'll drop you a line in a little while explaining the different elements of the dream.

I've had deja vue in dreams too, but I assume because it's my dream, to some extent, I control the action.

Right, here goes!
The dream starts at an Inn, this denotes friendship. (you say you were thrown out, but don't know why..if you dream of being in a pub with friends, it indicates warmth towards these people. If you are in there alone, it indicates a period of retrospection on your part. Being thrown out may indicate a feeling of losing some closeness with a friend, have you fallen out with a friend recently?)
The closet or small room you ran to is a safer place, a place of concealment from the embarrassment of falling out or losing closeness, a place where you can be by yourself to think. However, you are not let alone, as the viking now appears. Vikings and giants in dreams represent either a particular person whom you feel has great strength of character, or a great event of some significance in your life, that you think might be coming. (I can't say which it is here, you would know better than me!)
Next you take flight. Flying in a dream is very common, and represents our ambitions, and indicates a need for new experiences.
Cats in dreams (the feline woman) represent actual people your subconscious is warning you against. In dreams cats represent treachery unless you chase them away. Her appearance in your dream suggests a woman you know who may not have your best interests at heart, and suddenly after seeing you are actually attacked.
In summary then: I would guess you have felt a drifting away from a friend recently, and you feel you need to think about this. There may be something important coming up in the near future which you feel may be significant, or there is a strong character in your circle of friends to whom you are feeling attracted? There is also a woman you don't and shouldn't trust, especially with secrets...
Let me know if this finds an echo.
Martin.

Thanks Martin, but I'm not quite sure if this dream really had a meaning - I have 'regular' dreams where whatever happens happens to *me* personally, but this wasn't it...
...then I have these 'action-film-dreams' where the details stand out much clearer than in my ordinary dreams, and where there seems to be a story, and I feel rather detached from the things going in, more like a spectator even if I see myself in one of the leading parts, so to speak... it was this kind of dream I had.
Sometimes I have the feeling that my brain is sorting up memories from the short time memory data base that are to be filed in the long time memory data base, and my brain thinks that some memories shouldn't really be stored for a long time but disposed of, so it amuses itself by throwing in odd bits and pieces into a dream and tries to make a story of it - that would be the 'action-film-dreams' - usually very entertaining to watch, but they can get really weird at times.
I know that some people say that all dreams have a meaning, but personally I doubt there is much meaning in my 'action-film' dreams. There has been no change in my circle of friends - no one going away, no one new. No new feelings on my part (that I'm aware of), no new colleagues.
Hang on - I've been thinking of my RL (Real Life) friends - what you said might fit in with my internet friends Martin. Hmmmm... I need to think about this...
