Just read in today's newspaper about a moose that had been shot during the yearly, autumnal moose hunt in Sweden (since we've managed to exterminate most of their natural enemies, we need to shoot them off to limit the number).

When examined, the moose meat contained 3662 becquerel per kilo. 19 years later and there's *still* contamination around!smiley - yikes

I remember when it happened - and how calm everyone was about it in Sweden. There was nothing much we could do afterwards to limit the effects of what had already happened.

We were told to avoid eating stuff from 'the wilderness' whether it was meat or berries. We were told that the number of cancer cases in Sweden would increase during years to come.

But there was never any panic - and we certainly didn't have to move into air-raid shelters as a certain American news channel stated - with pictures to back the story up!smiley - steam

And no, I don't remember which news channel that was...
