A Conversation for Life on Europa

Plate Tectonics

Leizard

There is a theory which says that both plate tectonics and water are necessary for life, and as far as I know, Europa is just an ice planet, it does not have a rocky centre, thus it cannot have plate tectonics... Just a thought.
As well, Earth is the only planet that has water in all three stages (solid, liquid, gas) and it has been argued that this is also necessary for life to evolve.
For anyone interested more in the possibility of life somewhere out there, I recommend Where Is Everybody: Fifty Solutions to the Fermi Paradox by Stephen Webb.
