h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

It all kicked off last night at the social cluband I'm afraid I got a lot of flack for speaking my mind. Licking my wounds now and unsure what's going to be left from the fallout but the barmaid at the RN Club says that we are welcome to continue meeting and there's no charge for the room. Yorkie is collecting us all tomorrow night (including the Charming Ringleader) for a Moroccan meal out at Great Limber, so that should be fun I've bet Pal that he'll arrive in a stretch limo, she thinks it will be a pony & cart

I've bought a new dress out of my bingo winnings anyway

So what happened? Sounds like there was a movie-style smash-up of the restaurant....

Charming Ringleader's personality is very complex. She can't take criticism, or even being asked about what the itinerary pamphlet is for (she never turns up at the events, and I turned up for one alone and no-one else showed up).

She gets very defensive and shouts people down. However, I stood my ground and continued talking through her shouting at me and when I said I wasn't going to stand for such behaviour, the others all told me to sit down as they were all agreeing with me (I wasn't the one who started it, that was Mouse, the little who roared).

After Charming Ringleader left in a huff, the barmaid approached us and told us it was about time someone stood up to her, and we were all welcome at the Club anytime, the room is free...er, we thought we'd been paying subs for the cost of the room, but we've worked out we've been paying Charming Ringleader's phone bill (she never rings me) and for adverts to attract new membersand for printing costs (which Gorgeous the quizmaster does for her for free, I asked him last week if he was ever reimbursed, nope)

I don't know what's going to happen now. We'll continue meeting on Wednesdays in the club, and arrange our own events (which we had been doing anyway)

I would think she would rather be told off in public than have you collectively ask the local constabulary to speak with her about her misappropriation of group funds.

Now you can all be respectable people having a lovely time with other respectable people, which should make for a much more enjoyable summer!

What will the barmaid do for entertainment now?

Gorgeous the quizmaster emailed me yesterday to say he wouldn't be attending any more meetings because he doesn't like Charming Ringleader's temperament.
He said after he left (almost immediately things kicked off) he'd not long been home before Charming Ringleader appeared at his front door and told him who had said what and how upset she was. He said she was under the mistaken apprehension that he was "on her side" when in fact he's not on any side so he will no longer participate. When I asked if he was still going to the meal we've all paid for (tonight) he replied in the affirmative, as he's looking forward to an "interesting dining experience" ()

Yorkie's phoned and I am being collected at 6.50pm. I still don't know by whom or what, but I do know his favourite artist is Elvis, so I'm hoping it will be by Elvis in a stretch limo. He is desperate to impress Blondie, and I can't think of anything grander. It's quite amusing to watch and I wish I owned a video camera to take along tonight, but my own little digital will have to do.

I feel sorry for Menace, he's away on holiday in Cornwall, he'll come back next week and everything will have changed. He's going to be my World Cup buddy though

Should be fun at the RN Club tonight, Gorgeous has phoned to say Charming Ringleader phoned him (note, not me) to say she is junking the group. She's popping in tonight to tell us all in person. I texted Yorkie and he replied that we can do without her, and whatever's in the kitty we want back. Hah. I bet it's already in her petrol tank.

Poor Menace, he's just back from holiday, I rang him last night & left a message, he rang back and said he had about 10 messages but rang me first because I was the friendliest I asked if Charming Ringleader had rung and he said yes, but he hadn't listened to her message () I told him it was probably moaning about me, and the rest of us who said our bit last week.
