Busy time at work
busy time at home...
and now I'm up at 4:30 and getting ready for a 3 day trip to Istanbul. No, biz trips aren't fun at all and I have an essay to finish too...

At least you'll not be far from Santa Claus's home.

Best wishes for a well-timed return flight. A work trip had me staring at the outside of an airport from within a plane for some 6 hours on a Christmas Eve. Weather was okay where I was, but the destination was shut down to a blizzard ...

It's started snowing here today - I hope there'll be no problems with the flights, Sho.

back now
There was horrible snow and ice when we left and we were so long on the tarmac that I finished reading my book (which was ok because I had 10 more with me on my kindle
The trip was ok, nice to see my Turkish guys but oh my goodness. I am now going to refuse all trips until they provide me with a notebook PC (we got a kind of pool notebook, which didn't work properly and there were two of us trying to fit a full day's work in 2 hours... spent 50 minutes to our IT guy from the airport today sat in an internet café trying to finish some paperwork...)
It was rainy in Istanbul, and I didn't get to see anything because the person I was with has relatives there and I ended up in the Istinya (sp?) shopping centre looking at designer shops that we have here instead of getting my long promised trip around istanbul
and now I am totally not looking forward to going to work tomorrow because it's going to be horrible, hectic, and full of people blaming me for stuff beyond my control
New year's resolution: new job...

But...have you seen how much notebooks cost?
Oh. Right.
(See also making me use my gmail instead of paying the £200 pa it would take to give me access to my work e-mail *and* all my severs on file. I have just set up a filter to bounce back all company e-mails with a note that I am no longer using that address for work on account of its being in breach of company 'kin procedures.)

slightly mitigated by my getting a very good performance review (if I got less than "S" which is the best I'd have made an official objection...)
spent most of the day between crying in the loo and swimming against the corporate tide of crap.
Sheesh...

And why are you crying in the loo at this time of year?
<- seems extremely appropriate in that situation.
Hope Christmas helps you forget about work for a couple of days.
