Good Luck with your travel plans TC!
It's warmer here today - we can feel our feet when we're outside. In fact the gruesomes are outside now doing kid stuff in the snow.
People are still driving too fast through our village, on the phone...
Our 2nd car died - has to cycle to the station at 5.30 every morning - maybe I'll be nice and take him!

We had lots of last night and sunshine today, which has produced giant icicles hanging from the roof and I'm relieved they're not hanging directly above our door as they look as though they could inflict pain if they were to fall.

Spent a cold hour getting bikes and junk out of the garage (and into my workroom) so that I can get SuperPunto into the garage (ready to take to the station at stupid-o'clock tomorrow morning)
But I'm quite worried that school will be cancelled for one or more gruesome tomorrow, and that I'm either going to be very very late or get stuck in snow on the way to work.
Because, contrary to popular opinion, even here the country can grind to a halt due to the wrong kind of snow at the wrong time. In NordrheinWestfalen where I live there were 1100 accidents over the last 24 hours.

Sheesh...I've no idea what the average is, but that sounds like a hell of a lot!
We finally got about an inch or two of snow here during the night. It's nearly all away now, though. (It's always amusing to walk the through it. He always seems so startled by it! )

To back up what Sho said: Having been in England and in Germany on Sunday I noticed:
a) There was more snow in England than in Germany
b) There were no mentions of deaths in England (not sure if I missed them) but on arrival in Germany, the first thing I heard on the news in the car was that 7 people had died due to the cold.

Oh - and, as you see, thanks to all of you thinking of me, I had a very smooth day of travelling. No untoward delays or upsets - flight was about half an hour late in the end, but everything else went swimmingly.
Düsseldorf and Frankfurt airports were completely shut down, though.

Still no snow in Central London, but Greenland Dock was almost completely frozen over this morning.

It's warming up here - 15° warmer than it was two days ago! But everything's still pretty much frozen over; since it's just below zero, everything's slippery from snow melting and re-freezing on the streets.

Ha! I spoke too soon - just had a heavy snow shower, which seems to have settled...just enough to make the pavements icy as it freezes.

not so cold today - but some appalling driving and frighteningly uncleared snow off cars

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted Dec 22, 2009
It took me 3.5 hours to collect the boys from nursery yesterday, it is a ten minute drive normally. Thank god I went to get them early but I thought we wete going to have to sleep in the car at one point! Scariest part was getting up a massive hill that had already claimed 6 cars. I got out and cheered when we reached the top.
Some pics of the weekend's snow on my fb account if you can find me, I'm a dickinson...

Would have been for me, but too far for t'Boy on a nice day, let alkone through a blizzard! Plus didn't know how bad it was going to get when I set off, BBC was still predicting just sleet at that point.
