We haven't had much snow here yet at all. I much prefer snow this time of year, rather than right before it gets really cold. It's really hard to walk on when it's frozen solid.

We have snow!!
Wish I was still at my old school, had to get a bus and it always topped running when it snowed. Now that i walk to school there's no bus to catch. Although that does mean i can decide if its too dangerous to get to school.

Snowstorms here yesterday ( Midlands,UK) and it is still lying and frozen solid in untreated areas and gardens. Bitterly cold too, and the ice in the birdbath was about three inches thick.
Think I'll hibernate.

We now have snow, too, but only a few cm so far.

we had a cm or two here, and I had fun with the Gruesomes sweeping the path in front of our house and the 2 neighbours houses and then round the corner and in front of the farm where the 2 old biddies live.
Feeling all warm and glowy and socially responsible (not to mention grown up) now.

It snowed here last night - that is, what clouds there were, were snowing. But since it was an almost completely clear night, I could count the number of flakes on my fingers!

We've got snow with brilliant sunshine and blue skies, but it is very this morning. I've put lots of food and warm water out for the birds and will slide my way with the soon.
BTW Pierce, I have an eco-friendly hair-dryer that uses half the electricity of a 'normal' one. Mind you, I haven't yet used it to defrost my freezer, so don't know how effective it would be with melting ice.

Shoveling is the bit about snow I don't like, so I'm glad I don't have to do it. Of course, the person who's supposed to do it, doesn't always. But at least it's not my responsibility.
It looks like we got an inch or two overnight. It's the kind of wet slushy stuff that almost looks like rain as it's falling.

So it's -12° here today - and getting colder by the feel of it. Brrrr.
I was out on exercise once, it would probably have been around February 1986 (possibly 1985) Wintex. I spent two weeks wearing every bit of Army kit I had packed in my kit, including all the NBC kit (and I wasn't the only one) we had to inspect our feet daily because nobody could feel their toes.
I had swapped all my night gards to cook (there were only 10 of us on my detatchment) but it was nearly impossible. Our eggs all froze solid, boiling them was the only way to cook them and it took ages.
I don't think I've ever been that cold again - but today came close.

Pity you had to eat the eggs, they would have made great ammunition...
Here, it's just cold enough to hurt (but not numb) the ears.

Hi, MP, They are always crunchy, or rather crunching, they are eating me out of house and home! They should have gone to sleep by now but won't give up on the free food. If I withdraw it to make them go away, they tip my plant tubs over
The has frozen and the ground is rock hard so they can't get anything natural to eat.

Still snowy here and the garden is untouched so nothings visited in the night. I remember when i was younger we had a hedgehog visit us but I don't think anything else has come recently as what used to be a large overgrown bit of land has been turned into houses.

You can call me TC Posted Dec 20, 2009
Kent seems to have the worst of it at the moment. I was in Ely on Thursday night, got in to town fine, but while I was indoors during the evening, it snowed. Boy did it snow. I was at a school show, and the kids were throwing snowballs afterwards, even though they were only wearing their uniforms and indoor shoes.
It took me an hour to get halfway home, to my sister's house, and in the end I stayed there the night, as I wanted to go back into Ely the next morning for the Carol Service. Finally got back to my mother's on Friday after lunch!
Since then I've been shovelling and sweeping snow from her very steep driveway - wish me luck - it's back to the airport this afternoon.
