You are quite within your right to choose to create whatever organisations you wish.

But, if you wish to create such an organisations as the Avenging Angels I withdraw my copyright to use or host Guardian Angel material, code & logos...

I'm sorry if this sounds tierce in nature, but the GA have some SERIOUS things to deal with at the moment, and this certainly isn't helping...

Understood. I have said on the page that it is independent of the Guardian Angels. Would it be okay to use the cloud background though? If not then okay, I understand why you need to do that. I would like to say that you and all the GAs have my full support, please do not think for a second that I have turned my back on you because I set up a new H2G2 Angels thing.

I am happy to discontinue the AAs if it is going to cause any problems. I'll e-mail Peta to let her know the AAs have nothing to do with you or the GAs to avoid any confusion.

Very Sorry. I'v emailed Peta saying it is independent of the GAs and has absolutely no link to it whatsoever. I would also just like to make it clear it was NOT designed as a mockery of your pages: it has been in the piepeline since before I was even aware of the H2G2 GAs, unfortunately this is the fist time I've had the chance to do anything about it though. It's flaming typical that it would be the same time as all this was happening. I think it's called sod's law.

Please wipe the GA pages you have copied immediately.

I have taken a look at your AAA pages and noted the similarity of the pages and the embedded java script changing the very colours of the links.

As only a person with access to the password of god would be able to access this data, I can only assume you are the person who attempted to not only take my H2G2 personae, but also proceed to email me under my own name after finding out you couldn't take control of the page without access to my old email account.

If not please give me the name of the individual who gave it to you.

If this matter isn't attended to immediately, I will inform the editors about your activities...

I would just like to put in a note here about javascripts that change the colours of links - I myself have one and I have absolutely nothing to do with any sort of Angels (except knowing them) and I found the script on a seperate website that has scripts for the taking. However, I don't know if it the same one...

I would never do something as low and basically as immature as taking someones password, seeing as I'm not part of either of your e-groups how on earth would I know your password in the first place?!!
Any one can find out how to do such things as javascript by doing TestUserPage and then the number of any page, as any of the Editors will tell you. Seeing as you have sent insulting letters to the Editors they are not likely to take anything you say very seriously. Before you jump to conclusions about how I know that, the editors e-mailed all the GAs to let them know what was going on. I do not wish to hear any more from you on the matter, if you wish to discuss this further, please e-mail Peta, or one of the other editors and let them sort it out, as you are clearly too hot-headed to sort anything out yourself.

I will happily discuss it with you on the heaven thread GB, so there is no confusion for the others as to what is going on. However, please bear in mind that I am no longer discussin the matter with Matt.

The copyright on the Guardian Angels pages and all other h2g2 pages belongs to h2g2. You agreed to this when you agreed to the terms and conditions of h2g2. You therefore have no authority to demand that this Researcher deletes her pages. I would suggest, however, that she/he might offer change the design somewhat, purely as a courtesy.

The editors are already perfectly aware of the situation regarding the GA's and AA's.

The pages I am lead to believe could only have been obtained from someone loggin in under my username, she has NEVER had authorisation, so unless you can furnish me an alternative suggestion that isn't entirely illegal.

I demand action to be taken against this user.

Furthermore, as she has sort to change the data to create the AAA page, I point you to this condition of the copyright section...

"You are perfectly free to take what you have written and re-publish it somewhere else, as you still own copyright over the material too, but as we plan to distribute the Guide in various formats in the coming years, we need to be sure that we own the copyright on everything on h2g2."

So, as I own copyright of my data off-site and she has substantively changed the page, therefore she is effectively breaching my off-site copyright by reproducing a modified copy.

So I ask you to protect my copyright and I ask you to remove the offending material.

On how to copy pages:-

Open this in a new browser window http://www.h2g2.com/test5932

Select all of the code text in the textarea window & copy it.

Change the URL of that other browser window to http://www.h2g2.com/useredit

Paste into the "Contents" textarea.

Change the entry type to GuideML.

Give the page a title ~ like normal.

Hit the "Add Entry" button.

You have just created a copy of Douglas Adams' h2g2 homepage (like I did @ http://www.h2g2.com/A456293 ) - no passwords were involved.

Matthew, don't you know how to be polite? Don't you know that going around *demanding* things is a really bad way to get things done?

The situation will not be 'remedied forthwith', I've looked at the page and the Researcher has not broken our copyright or breached our terms and conditions. There are no external links to graphics as far as I can see.

If you are aware of a page on which someone links to your own personal graphics, then please inform me on my personal space, giving the A number of the page , and I will ask them to remove the links.

I would like to know why such a function to copy pages exists accessable by everyone ?

As I have spent six months working upon my pages and building up the Guardian Angels when someone can come along take that code on a whim, and as easily assume my username.

I have asked nicely twice, yet to no avail.

The 'demand' for the picture links to be changed are for the Guardian Angels pages & the Heaven page, they are linked to external private servers, which is entirely my right as a private citizen to ask.

I sympathise with your concerns over what has obviously been a labour of love, namely the setting-up of whichever pages in question have been copied or whatever the precise situation might be (excuse my vagueness - I will not pretend to have anything but a slight inkling of what is and has been going on here). I appreciate fully the sheer frustration of having created a space or page on h2g2 which can, essentially, be raided by anyone who is sufficiently free of scruples. The fact that one is dependent on the courtesy of others is, I'm afraid, as much the case on h2g2 as it is IRL.

This is why your stance in this thread, whilst for understandable reasons, seems to me to be far too self-pityingly precious. You have every right to feel aggrieved, but making demands is not the way to go about it making your concerns felt. 'I want never gets', as I believe the children's adage goes.

*All* webpages can be ripped off by anyone using a freely available tool like Netscape Composer. If you are worried about your material being copied then I recommend that you don't post anything onto any web site, including your own.

You personally gave your username and password to the Archangels in an email. That was entirely your decision. They didn't take it on a whim. You gave it away.
