I didn't know you were a Poldark fan!
Just a nugget for you that doesn't deserve an airing in PR, I was so obsessed with Poldark when it first aired that I called my 2nd daughter Demelza. All through the pregnancy. When she was born though, and I announced she was "Demelza Joanne", did I get a barrage of protests informing me that she would hate me for saddling her with such an unusual name. So I bowed to the pressure and my husband picked "Helen" for her first name but I insisted on keeping Demelza for her second name. Would you believe, from her being a toddler the entire family referred to her as "Mezzie" and she preferred to be called "Mezz" rather than Helen. Fast-forward to her 30s and her Facebook profile is Helen 'Mezz' Turner, and the family still call her Mezz. I still love the name Demelza. I will never forget how Winston Graham said "God broke the mould" when describing her, and the lovely Angharad Rees who was perfect to play the character. R.I.P. Angharad

Both DG and I loved the character. That actress was lovely and wonderful. I remember thinking Poldark was such a chump about mooning awful that Elizabeth---she deserved Warlagen. It was so great to learn about conditions in Cornwall while our country was still mostly forests. In the politics, I was reminded of 'The West Wing' --somethings never change.

I never liked Elizabeth, she was too starchy, cold and straight-laced. Demelza was warm and down-to-earth. I have put Mousehole down on my places to visit, I have relatives I'd like to look up in Devon
