Arrghhhhhhhh, all I wanted was a biscuit
LL Waz Started conversation Nov 19, 2008
I trod on a slug, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross,
barefoot
gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross,
in the kitchen
gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross,
it was big
gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross,
and yellowy,
yuk
greyish black, slightly squashed...
gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross,
and slimey
gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross,
yuk
it's somewhere next door over the hedge now
yuk
and my foot's been scrubbed. And scrubbed.
Gross!

Dearest Waz.
How totally horrid, horrid, horrid ad infinitum. !
I am most sorry.
Can I suggest that you wash you foot with a strong solution of Dettol and warm water.
And NEVER walk around without sandals or something on your feet again again.
I feel for you. I wonder why they exist. !
With affection and wishing you a speedy return to non-sluggishness!!
Christiane.

Gosh Galaxie Babe
You are clever. I never thought of that. !!
I am just trying to remember if there were slugs in africa. I adtually do not think so.
But Willem will, I am sure tell me if I am wrong. !!
Sincerely,
Christiane

Malawi had gigantic snails, upon one of which I thought I had trodden as a I glissaded upon a somewhat gritty goop across the floor and into the W.C. one night. In the morning, it transpired to have been one almighty dog turd.

The most unsettling thing Ive stepped on in the middle of the night was a dead, ice cold, bloody rabbit. My cat had brought it in and left it beside my bed.

Oh, Waz,
I sympathise. We have been infested with the things this year. I found one in my kitchen which I reckon had come under the back door, or up the cold water pipe. I make sure I don't go barefoot or in socks now. I am glad I am not the only one who has had them in my kitchen. I felt quite upset at the time, it made me feel dirty. They lay eggs so one might have come in on my shoes I guess, as it wasn't very big.
I quite like snails, but slugs and double , though I have to say dog mess is vile. The pong is

Agreed. Slugs are totally disgusting. I fight them, too.

Hi Christiane,
As far as I can tell, the only purpose of slugs is to ruin our gardens.
I have dates for the visit but no details as to what we'll be doing on which days yet. As soon as something is put together, I'll put it up in my journal.

Christiane,
They like vegetation like lettuces, favourite plants et. and strip the leaves. I am sure they have a proper place in the scheme of things, but I haven't quite worked it out as yet!

AR80, we certainly have slugs here in Africa. They're not very common, though, here in Polokwane, the climate being quite dry. I consider them no problem at all in my garden. I'm more concerned about snails - of which we have many. But there are lots of little creatures here like thrushes, hadeda ibises, robin-chats and others that feed on them!

Somewhere in this house there are slippers, haven't seen them about in months though .
I'm outgrossed - dog mess and dead rabbits ... shudder.
I hate to admit this but ... slugs do have a place. (Just not in my kitchen!) They're bird food, and some help in the general removal of rubbish. Some of their identification of rubbish is offmark though. I think those pale ones, like the one I trod on, seldom eat fresh/live vegetation.
My kitchen slug came in with the water pipes I think.

Thank you for your anonymous repy to my question.!! It certainly generated a lot of replies.
So you think that slugs do have a role. I am not convinced really. I just think that they are on the path of extinction having lost thier shells. without shells and living in hot climates they would just dry up and DIE.
At least that is my Darwinian explanation. Sadly |K. is not well. so spare a loving thought.
I have lost your email addy so if you have mine do write to me.
Much affection
Christiane.

Christiane, and best wishes to K. I should have your address somewhere in my inbox - I'll have a look. I'm away for a long weekend (to York) so it might be next week though.
