Slight prang in the car park last night, while out hunting for a replacement ice scraper. Fiesta's got a dent on the bonnet, 'tother 'uns got a cracked bumper. Shall try to resolve without involving insurance, so we are meeting up at a garage today to get our respective damages assessed then divvy up the bill.

Hard luck.

Does that mean that the weather in your neck of the woods is icy, or were you just being prepared when buying a scraper?

repair shop was (helpfully) closed over the weekend, so me and my colidee are now meeting up there in about an hour or so to find out what the damage repair cost will be.

PF - heavy frosts some mornings, my previous ice-scaper took one look and promptly fell into four pieces (no joke) so I thought I'd visit Halfords after work.

I've driven on some awful roads, in some very nasty weather, but highways hereabouts last week were the worst I've ever been on, with a thick layer of snow on top of ice.

How I discovered this: On my way home the 4-wheel drive actually lost traction, and I narrowly avoided doing some unplanned off-roading before I could bring it to a stop

Fortunately there were no other vehicles at the time, because I had to reverse into the opposite lane to get turned around

I drove at an extreme crawl the rest of the way. On a couple of uphill grades, I could feel all four wheels alternately slipping, and at one point I wasn't sure the thing was going to make it up the hill.

This was a failure of communication. We both that the parking space we were heading into was vacant. I was approach from the rear, she was reverse from the front, we met in the the middle.
