The Steep Hill with all the cobbles was where the song "Consider Yourself" was filmed for the film of the musical "Oliver".
The Cathedral boasts a little gargoyle called the Lincoln Imp who stands on one leg and everbody who visits shouldn't be allowed to leave until they find him.
The Bridge Cafe is a lovely place but only for the tourists - locals make do with the one above BHS. The Monkgate fish and chip shop sells chips fried in vegetable oil and seperately form the fish especially for vegetarians. The Drill Hall is an underused venue where The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix played that is now sadly neglected.
Like many of the smaller towns whose principal industries have been eroded, there is a relatively high level of unemployment and social unrest that the tourist wouldn't notice. Lincolnshire itself boasts some of the lowest wages in the E U.
Lately though, things have been looking up; the local college has become a campus of the De Montford University based in Leicester attracting a number of Students to the area.
Oh, Lincoln also has the largest inland harbour in England.

Since the previous post the drill hall has been overhauled and is now a thriving venue for music and other events

The drill hall is back. Reopened about a year ago and has a really vibrant feel about it. Great venue, lovely reasonably priced cafe. Also we have a new venue in Lincoln Uni called the Engine Shed. This is for larger acts.
