Hi all you newbies ( does this mean i am also saying hi to myself lol) feel free to visit my space if you want and leave a message there. This is my first time on h2g2 and I would love to talk to you all again soon. My plans for the future on this site are i want to become an Ace, a Guru a scout and a researcher . Have any of you decided what you want to do on this site in the future?

wow, I just registered less than an hour ago. Future hmmmmmmm....I guess it's too soon to say. I didn't even know that they had these different levels! what's that all about?

They aren't really "levels"... just fun volunteer work... like Aces greet newbies and make sure everyone's getting along... Scouts look for good writing... you can be an active and accepted hootoo-er without ever volunteering (but it's darn fun if you get a chance!).

That sounds really fantastic. I signed up on this site with just a brief skim through and I never would have guess that there is so much possibility. Well I'll be on virtually everyday. Not only because of the fantastic nature of this site but also due to the fact that the extent of my job is to stuff envelopes and do filing. where can I find more info?

Well, start out by taking the tour at A317459 to aquaint yourself with what's up around the Guide...
Then see if any of the clubs or societies interest you at A660340 ... I personally think the Thingites are a good group for Doug Adams fans...
Oh! also, A632431 is all the jargon around here abouts... may be helpful!

Greetings! I'm fairly new having been 'outed' after some work was carried out on the computer and I had to re-register.
I belong to the Bathchair/Zimmerframe era, and I'm not really computer literate but I do try.
Anyway Hullo to all readers.

Hello.
Welcome back.
I've just arrived aswell. I'm glad to see that you're already up and about. My computer freezes right in the middle of the most important actions. I think that it's harbouring some resentment for a past wrong that I may have comitted against it. No matter glad to see that your is back on line.

A little internet trick I learned, is I write up all my long stuff and save it(guideml and text for personal space or guide entry) on Microsoft Word, and then I copy or cut and paste the info to the Guide... that way I have a saved copy if my internet decides to disconnect or the whole shebang freezes. It saves a lot of screaming and destruction of computers.

true, very true.
I learned to save things on as many sources as I could. After loosing a paper this year and thus suffereing multiple heart atacks and strokes, I learned a valuable lesson!
