A Conversation for LIL'S ATELIER

The atelier's main page has now been updated to display a list of all known Salonistas, but I expect corrections to come in and omissions to be flagged. I hope y'all will have a look and review your own entries for style and content. I will accept replacement descriptions or updates.
The atelier continues to provide good conversation and refreshment, as well as surreality, to all who visit. We are without regular input from Looneytunes who, for his sins, has been transported to Australia for a month. Babel-17 is away this week. The Professor has been quite busy of late and hasn't posted as much as usual. Amy is poorly again -- all those medical assaults seem to have rendered her immune system fragile. Get better, Amy.
I do not love thee, Dr. Fell.
Why it is, I cannot tell.
But this I know, and know full well,
I do not love thee, Dr. Fell.
What is this from? Have I remembered it correctly? It sprang to mind when thinking of Amy's long journey through investigative medicine.
The committee is in session to determine descriptions for those who failed to provide them in the last conversation.
Anyhow, be welcome, join us, and read the backlog if you can. Before we use it for firewood.

Here I am, ready and waiting for vibrant conversation, or just a chat!
By the way, Lil what's 'the look', is it the one can still stop a 22 year old son in his tracks?

Caerwynn, that's the very one.
I now, finally, have a full cord of aged juniper wood and am ready for the winter.

Morning all!
Well, I am back at w*rk today, but have no voice whatsoever, so I find myself doing e-mail support - until they run out of e=mails for me and I get sent home, that is.
Lil, the list looks grand! I am so happy to be a part of this distinguished group. (And I am glad that you set the record straight on B-17's tartiness. )
Matina, some please. Thank you.

, Lil! I am thrilled to be there on your list, I feel nearly grown up
Sounds to me as if you need hot honey and lemon for your throat, Gw7en

Sadly, my theatre profs and voice instructors from college have soured me on lemon juice for sore throats, Caer, if you'll excuse the pun. It strips the vocal chords and - while I'm not apt to be singing any librettos in the near future - I'm trying to preserve my voice as well I can for the stage. That used to be my favorite cure too...
Peppermint tea, on the other hand...

Well, they are the experts, I suppose they should know.
I seem to remember something about glycerine, but that sounds too gooey.
Peppermint ? too minty!

I love it, always have. I've got a weakness for mint, though. I once went on a tour of the Celestial Seasonings plant. They have a room called the peppermint room which has a massive one inch think door to keep the peppermint smell from infiltrating all the other ingredients. I think that is the best smelling room ever anywhere!

It's really thick out there tonight, the net equivilent of a "pea souper" if it gets any worse I may have to resort to RL

I always recomend alcohol for sore throats and I'm sure Loony would agree with me

I also have a weakness for peppermint, spearmint and wintergreen But one of the tea blends I have is made for colds and one of its ingredients is camphor.
Now there used to be a cough drop you could get in England called victory v, and one of the ingredients in it was ether!

Lil
You can still get Victory V's, although I'm not sure ether is still on the ingedients list.

For sore throats I use a saltwater gargle. That is about it.

*scribbles out*
The only alcohol I have had thus far has been that found in NyQuil, I fear, BB. I shall have to look into the other.
Ether, Lil? Sounds a bit stronger than I strictly need just yet. I'll keep it in mind though.
Sadly, I am without IRL until I go home. There's no hot water here in the office just now. When I get home, though, I'm going to have a nice cup of Chamomile and curl up on the sofa, just like I am here.

Ether? Why is it that I think of someone grinding cables into the coughdrop?

Witty Moniker Posted Oct 24, 2001
No hot water at w*rk? That's inhumane.
The Salonista list looks great, Lil. it's no wonder the backlog gets a little hairy, what with so many of us trying to get a word in edgewise.
Caer, it's good to know that The Look will still work after my 15 year old leaves her teen years behind. Hopefully, I will only need to use it sparingly.

Well, Lil, I'm satisfied with my entry, but it befits the FNG to be satisfied just to be included. However, in future I shall be careful what I say here in moments of incoherence (everything taken down shall be used against me).

And I've always found that alcohol combined with a hot beverage do wonders for a sore throat - like Irish coffee - or, my personal favourite - hot chocolate with whisky...
