While we are on the subject of anniversaries

Yesterday should have been the 16th birthday of the Stepson's sister. She was killed a year ago next Wednesday.
It's a strange time.

The first thing I heard on the radio yesterday morning was the line "I wanna die with you" presumably from the song by Hootie and the Blowfish. I've never turned a radio off so quickly. She was killed by her boyfriend. It seems that some countries are slower than others with inquests, and hers begins in 10 days time.

I doubt there is anything more awful than the death of a young person.
I hope the family and friends of this young girl get through the inquest somehow.

Anniversaries can be very painful. And holidays. And things like watching a wedding and knowing that she died too young to get married. I wish her family well.

You are right, Hyp, it is the odd and unexpected things that catch you out. Music or films or books she'd have enjoyed too.
I didn't know her well, but her family are having it really really tough.

Ben, I agree about anniversaries. My oldest and dearest friends's birthday happens to be the anniversary of another friend's death at the hands of her stalker. I get caught in a weird phase by this every year.
-- I hope your stepson's family can find solace in memories of the happier times in his sister's life.

I agree with SC that some anniversaries can be very hard. Your subject title suggests there has been more than one upsetting anniversary lately.
Hope you are feeling better. Take care.

Last week the remaining phases of her inquest were postponed until well into the New Year.
Her family will be having some Christmas, eh?

It is such a tragedy. My heart goes out to them.
