My favourite method of finding fun places in here, is to go to a random user page and follow the links there to a new page, from that page to another and so forth until I find something I like. It takes quite some time and is not very reliable, but you often end up somewhere fun that you'd never have found by yourself.

Oh yeah, and if you go to the front page, there's a section called "Peta's Picks", there should be something there to help you get started.
